If you have an avatar stored on atZinc.org, make sure you read the last section in this post or it will be deleted.
What's New/Changed The biggest "change" is that @Z has been about 90% completely rewritten, and this time developed in Firefox instead of Opera.
To the average user though, not a whole lot is drastically different. I modified the navbar some. Took some things out (like WoW stuff), moved some things around, got rid of the drop down boxes. Too many people were (somehow) confused by the drop down boxes and couldn't figure out that clicking the arrow show/hid things. So they're gone completely. The chat's gone too, because we never use it.
News posts are gone as well, at least in the way we know them now. Instead of submitting things, admin can just mark which forum threads they think should also be listed on the front page.
Forum threads no longer have pages. Instead all posts in that thread are listed. I think all our computers now days are capable of handling more than 10 posts at a time, and threads rarely ever grow beyond 20, let alone 30. Like-wise, there's not forum pages. It's easier to just use the search function than going through back-pages of threads.
A lot of forum usage was moved to the navbar. Things like add thread & add reply. If people have a big problem with this let me know and I can copy it under the thread title again. However, it's much easier for me to keep them all in one place so that I don't need to modify if/else checks in multiple places.
Only admin can move threads or edit thread titles now.
Admin I'm only mentioning this so there's no one wondering. There's no new admin, and I don't plan on adding more.
Accomplices & @Z Privates I've created a sort of "elite member" status called accomplice. For now, the primary purpose of this is to mark which people will have access to the private forum. I might use it for other things in the future, and it'd be easy to add further "ranks" if I ever needed to (though I wouldn't want to unless absolutely necessary). Admin can promote people to accomplice, and accomplices are marked with an icon next to their name.
The private forum itself should only be used for things you don't want Random Joe From Google to see. An example would maybe be "Hey Wrath, come on over. Here's my address." or discussion about Nintendo DS "apps". Things such as "lol this flash video is funny" should not be posted in the private forum.
Update: All people who should be accomplices now are marked as such. If you feel I missed you, let me know.
What's Left to Finish As if I would ever upload a fully finished website, ha! Nope, I still haven't done the forum search. There's a lot of threads that need to be moved to the other forum, or deleted. There's probably lots of bugs too (use this thread to report them to me please).
I also still have to finish rewriting all the ZCode stuff. This is the HTML-like functionality that's used in posts and such. It's a bit hard to explain, but I don't actually allow full-on free form HTML. Only certain tags are allowed, and my old way of allowing them is really bad. So there might be some HTML display issues in posts until this is all fixed up, especially in places like the Shoutbox.
Hosted Avatars If you have an avatar stored on @Z, save it to your computer now. There aren't many people in this category. In a few days or so I'll be deleting them all (I'll post when I do). At that point, if you still need avatar hosting, contact me to send me the AV and I'll host it for you. The reason behind this is because, for one, I don't want the directory where it currently is. Also, this will weed out the avatars just sitting there from the ones actually being used.
This does not apply to subdomain.atZinc.org storage. I'm talking atZinc.org/avatars/.
