Comic Jumper
Posted by News Fetcher on September 29 '10 at 11:00 AM
By from Penny Arcade:
Comic Jumper is a new game coming out from the guys at Twisted Pixel. We had a chance to play it before PAX and I really liked the concept of a character who jumps into different comic book genres. Each time he lands in a new comic, the style of the artwork changes and it’s done really well. They approached us about doing a comic project for the game and we said yes so long as we could choose the genre. I was really into comic books back in the early 90’s and I thought it would be a ...

Integrating another human being's unique biology into the office has been a unique proposition. Scott claims that before moving north, nobody's ever even mentioned his talkative ass, but his friend and cohort Kris Straub just left the country for an entire month - presumably to get oxygen. The only thing I know about Stargate is that it features Gates which allow one to travel the Stars, and that's pretty much the balance of it. Oh, and the online CCG is good, but I've liked almost everything by SOE Denver (née Worlds Apart). I started pulling down episodes of Stargate Universe ...

Warrants Further Assessment
Posted by News Fetcher on September 27 '10 at 11:00 AM
By from Penny Arcade:
Comic related to my cohort's birthday constitute a kind of sub-genre in the greater body of our "work," some are more generalized - like today's, for example - but there are one or two that hint at something like an overarching (underpinning?) mythology. So, while we managed to escape PAX without an epidemic, the joy beams of that blessed event must have stripped us of our natural defenses because the entire office has been getting sick in overlapping shifts ever since. I took my turn over the weekend, having taken the Plague Baton from Gabriel, I was chasing a spinning ...

By from Penny Arcade:
My son and I don't play very many games together. Well, we don't play many videogames; I don't think we've stopped living a kind of game since he was old enough to speak. The only videogame we have played with any regularity is Spreng Und Abriss, and if you click through there to the video you will understand exactly why. He played Angry Birds at a friend's house, and now plays what he calls "Angry Birds RL," which apparently means Real Life, because it is essentially a game where he stacks things up and then hurls his entire body at ...

The Move

By from Penny Arcade:
So I am home sick today and that’s why the strip looks a little strange. I was trying to figure out a way to draw the comic from home what with all my stuff being at the office. I remembered that I had downloaded the Sketchbook Pro app on my iPad. So today’s comic was drawn entirely with my pointer finger. Kiko was kind enough to drop my finger paintings into the panels and add the text for me. I’m hoping that another day of rest and playing Birth By Sleep will make me feel better. I picked up a ...

Mine All Mine, Part Two
Posted by News Fetcher on September 19 '10 at 11:00 PM
By from Penny Arcade:
Mine All Mine moves into Phase Two, depicting the savage and repeated "key learnings" this game heaps on you with a quickness. Minecraft is possessed of so many truths, both inherent and user-defined, that people engage with it in very personal ways. Occasionally, engaging with it means being murdered in the dark. Our webmaster set up a multiplayer server for the game (because setting up servers for things is something he does as a form of amusement), and the shift between the solitary, homesteading-type experience and shaping a word as a distributed electronic pantheon is marked. It happened to be ...

Mine All Mine, Part One

By from Penny Arcade:
I've been out of the office all week, as some variety of Streptococcus has colonized my wife. I've had to parent full time for three days, just three fucking days, and already I know why housewives once turned to Laudanum. Independent of mysteriously derived patent medicines, though apparently no less addictive, Minecraft has occupied my cohort every hour of my absence. He sent me a mail that eschewed capitalization entirely, with a link to "minecraft" nestled within and an exhortation to purchase the aforementioned because "it is only 9 dollars." A link to the crafting wiki was also provided. This ...

Dotage

By from Penny Arcade:
Because we tend to come around for the high point of Halo's arc - in when a new game has been released, all but out before the first map pack hits - our core skills only tick up marginally from game to game, barely abreast of their inevitable atrophy. People who play Halo specifically, people who play Halo because it is Halo and not because it is a videogame, eat us alive. Sam Mitersaw, with whom I had previously discussed the number of maps, wanted me to emphasize his full position on the site as opposed to the cropped version ...
