Dragon Age2 (in case you missed it)
Posted by News Fetcher on March 18 '11 at 02:30 PM
By from Penny Arcade:
I posted this yesterday but it was way down at the bottom of the page so you might not have seen it. All Three pages of our Dragon Age 2 comic are now live right here. You can also see the motion comic we did as well as get the in game item we created, "Hindsight". I mentioned a while back that I was using a lot of reference for these pages and I thought you might get a kick out of seeing one of them. After struggling all afternnon to draw Isabela throwing a dagger I finally asked ...

It won't be terribly hard for you to find the video, if you haven't already seen it; the strip contains all the pertinent details. I wish his experience were less common. Certainly, I allowed myself to be beaten up on more than one occasion. Fighting more than one person at a time isn't good math. Certainly I had more than one opportunity to respond as this young man did, though without such a prodigious display of upper body strength. Ultimately I decided that if I was going to stay as weird as I obviously was, I was going to need ...

I mentioned a while back that I was using a lot of reference for these pages and I thought you might get a kick out of seeing one of them. Slam Bolt Scrappers
Posted by News Fetcher on March 16 '11 at 01:45 PM
By from Penny Arcade:
Eitan Glinert from Fire Hose Games came by the office right before PAX, and it was nice to see him. We were overjoyed to have Slam Bolt Scrappers in our Boston Indie Showcase last year, and it clearly turned a few heads, including a head or two over at Sony. Also, Eitan is a Hebrew name, meaning “strong.” I was curious about that too. When he was telling me about the process of making SBS, I was struck by how many games they explicitly didn’t make - how many games they destroyed - during its production. Since the game out ...

Here is today's strip, or strip shell at any rate, a comic Boboli, which can be filled with marinated chunks of history. Those are some of the memories we have, a very small subset, indeed, so minuscule as to be a membrane around the actual thoughts, like the very near unbeing of a soap bubble. Do you see what happens when I talk for three solid days, and then start trying to write? It's insufferable, I know. But it's all I got today. I have many memories, and what follows is a partial list: - In one of the rooms ...

The Pony Factor
Posted by News Fetcher on March 14 '11 at 03:45 PM
By from Penny Arcade:
I neglected to mention it, but as is usual at the create a strip panel, audience suggestions are taken into account. Gabriel will draw anything that is requested, and often solicits feedback about particular poses or gestures. So it was on Saturday, when a young man flush with ponylove did request that such a beast be appended to the strip in the final panel. Maybe it's his patronus or something; I didn't ask. Brenna suggested that the pony was skulking around down there, as what she called a "sinister accomplice of evil," but I'm not certain that a pony can ...

I have been lying in bed feeling desolated in an essential way and powerless, as my ill-used larynx throbbed with the wages of a weekend spent in fervent communication, with a catalogue of odd metallic tastes making themselves known to me in a kind of perpetual rotation. I assume that is my esophagus collapsing, which is too bad, because I've found having an esophagus tremendously useful. Here is the strip we made during the aptly named Make A Strip Panel, and the condition described in panel one is sadly true. I am not always convinced by the use of 3D ...

I was never taught any particular rule about using the restroom, I just know in my hidden bones that you a) don't talk to people in there which is the law and the whole of the law. Again! Not taught. I didn't go into the "b-room" with my Dad, intent on a wide-ranging conversation, only to be silenced by a stony shake of the head as he drew his sword from the stone. And it's not just talking. I mean, there's a lot of things I don't do in there. I almost never sculpt. Brad Guigar was in the office ...

Dragon Age 2 Comic

I'll be travelling all day tomorrow which means I won't have time to mention the new page of our DA 2 comic. Page two should be live tomorrow right here. You can also see the motion comic we did as well as get the in game item we created, "Hindsight". From what I've heard this belt can really be a big help during the first chapter of the game. -Gabe out

The Land Before Time
Posted by News Fetcher on March 09 '11 at 09:30 AM
By from Penny Arcade:
I really want to know what another ten years of increasingly ubiquitous Internet will do to a person. I've got two kids, and it's not too late. I'm seriously considering making one of them the control. We crack wise about The Time Before (and, indeed, about the rank depravities the digital present allows) but I actually remember what I did before the Internet. I played videogames. And I logged into Bulletin Board Systems, which were like the Internet, but smaller. When the part of the evening I apportion to digital pursuits has rolled around lately, I've been plastering over that ...

Funny drawing I made
Posted by News Fetcher on March 07 '11 at 10:15 AM
By from Penny Arcade:
The drawing of Gabe in the second panel today really makes me laugh. I think it’s the best Gabe I’ve ever drawn. So I went ahead and made a nice high res version suitable for desktop wallpapers. click for the big one I’ve had a few requests for a shirt with this Gabe on it and I think that could work. I’ll talk with Kiko and Erika about it today. -Gabe out
