New Transformers Mobile Game From Backflip Studios Arriving Soon
Posted by News Fetcher on June 06 '15 at 05:30 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Earlier this week TFW2005 sister site HISSTANK reviewed G. I. Joe: Strike Mobile Game by Backflip Studios. Now, the studio has hinted that they are in development of mobile games based on other famous Hasbro properties including Transformers.

Back in 2013 Hasbro acquired this famous Mobile Game Development Company and Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner announced to the Hasbro Investors that the game studio is now in development of several games based on Hasbro IPs, during past financial calls. Pretty soon games based on Nerf and G. I. Joe franchises arrived to mobile devices.

Following the Soft Launch of G. I. Joe: Strike on the Android Platform last month and the expansion of their famous game; DragonVale, Backflip Studios spoke to the media last week and stated:

"We plan on supporting DragonVale for a long time. Thanks to our arrangement with Hasbro, we plan on working with smaller but proven studios to bring their IP to life without stretching our core resources that focus on the DragonVale brand. Expect to see many of Hasbro's favorite brands in mobile very soon!"

February last year, the company first hinted that they are in development of several games for Hasbro. Back then, Transformers, G. I. Joe and Monopoly were announced as planned games. One of the three games is already out with the other two possibly down the pipeline.

One of our favorite Twitter accounts, belonging to TakaraTomy designer Hisashi Yuki, continues to provide us with excellent updates. This time around we have an in-package look at the Transformers Adventure Powerglide!

There does appear to be some slight differences from the Hasbro release, which is to be expected. The limbs appear to be more of a white color, the overall red may be a bit darker, and this Takara release also has the Autobot circular insignia on the robot chest.

More Writers Added to Transformers Cinematic Universe Writer's Room - Beast Wars Spin-off Possible?
Posted by News Fetcher on June 04 '15 at 08:00 PM
By Galvatross from TFW2005:
Deadline, which seems to be the go-to source regarding recent announcements regarding the Transformers Cinematic Universe of sequels, prequels and spin-offs, has just announced two more writers that have been added to the writer's room headed by Akiva Goldsman. The new additions are Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet. These new writers join the previously announced team of Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Zak Penn, Jeff Pinkner, Robert Kirkman, Christina Hodson, Lindsey Beer, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari.

Akiva Goldsman also explains some of the reasoning behind this writer's room in the article, so check out the link above to read what he has to say. In one paragraph he even mentions Beast Wars as something that could be explored:

“If one of the writers discovers an affinity for Beast Wars, they can drive forward on treatments that will have been fleshed out by the whole room,” Goldsman said.

Only time will tell if a spin-off featuring the Maximals and Predacons of Beast Wars will become a reality, but the possibility is mentioned by Mr. Goldsman himself! It appears that they are considering many options for future films.

Transformers Windblade #3 - Combiner Wars Part 5 - iTunes Preview
Posted by News Fetcher on June 04 '15 at 01:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Apple's iBooks site has updated with a brief three page preview of the final part of the Combiner Wars arc, which takes place in next week's Transformers Windblade #3! It's a full-on battle between five mighty combiners - Superion, Defensor, Devastator, Menasor, and... well, that would be telling!

There's two art styles at work in this preview, with the Combiner sequences being done by Marcelo Ferreira and the sequences played out by "normal sized" giant robots by Corin Howell - both bring their own style to the book, and they create an interesting but not displeasing juxtaposition.

Check out the preview, then be sure to pick up the full issue next Wednesday, June 10th, for the galaxy-shaking finale!

Interview With Transformers: Robots in Disguise Head Writer & Producer Adam Beechen
Posted by News Fetcher on June 04 '15 at 08:30 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
CBR has posted an interview with Transformers: Robots in Disguise Head Writer & Producer Adam Beechen regarding the inception of the series and the future.

"Bumblebee has always been extremely popular, but at the same time he’s always been the supporting character" says Mr. Beechen. "After three decades focused solely on Optimus, really, it was just time to explore some other areas. That’s not to say that Optimus isn’t a part of our show. As you’ve seen, he is. But there’s a lot of fun to be had with a character like Bumblebee who’s getting a chance to lead for the first time and be his own Bot. What does that mean? How does he adjust to not having Optimus around to direct him all the time?"

Is it liberating as a showrunner when you work with a company like Hasbro and you have a guaranteed order for a long run on the series?

"It doesn’t so much change your approach, but you know how many episodes you have, so you pace out the story you’re telling accordingly. Typically what happens in a situation like this is that at the start of the season you sit down with the brand team and find out what their plans are in terms of the upcoming seasons – as in calendar seasons – for what toys they’re releasing when and what kind of story elements they’d like to see in the upcoming episodes. You have that meeting and plan out episodes according to that, but doing so in a way that tells the best possible stories. You’re not just cramming toys in there. You want to tell a cool story and help with what they’re doing as well. And it just runs from there.
