Transformers: Age of Extinction - Big Robots, Big Sounds Featurette
Posted by News Fetcher on October 21 '14 at 09:30 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Variety has posted a Transformers: Age Of Extinction Featurette on their You Tube Channel. Titled Big Robots, Big Sounds, the clip features sound designing for Transformers 4.

Michael Bay likes everything to look and sound cool. But as Variety's Tim Gray learned from sound re-recording mixers Greg P. Russell and Scott Millan, cooler doesn't always mean louder.

Mastermind Creations TFcon Chicago Exclusive Azalea* (Asterisk Mode)
Posted by News Fetcher on October 21 '14 at 07:00 AM
By ORIO from TFW2005:
3rd party group, Mastermind Creations, has taken the time stop by our 3rd party forum and update us with their next exclusive release. This coming weekend at the first ever TFcon Chicago, Mastermind will release an exclusive version of their fembot figure, R-08 Azalea. Azalea Asterisk mode will be available at the Renderform and friends booth. The full figure has not been revealed, but Renderform owner Venksta hints that the figure is based on one of the back ground characters in the Generation 1 episode "The Search for Alpha Trion". This narrows are choices down to one of two characters. It is either "Greenlight", the green fembot, or "Lancer" the purple and orange fembot. Could the box for this figure be an indication?

We'll see this weekend, along with other 3rd party reveals, at TFcon Chicago. Click the title bar to discuss!

TFW2005 Coverage Of Hasbro Third Quarter 2014 Earnings Conference Call
Posted by News Fetcher on October 20 '14 at 07:30 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
TFW2005 attended the Hasbro Third Quarter 2014 Earnings Conference Call live today.

The last financial quarter was very eventful for Hasbro. Not only the Hasbro-Discovery Hub Network was rebranded, the next Transformers Animated Series; Transformers: Robots In Disguise went to the Cartoon Network. Hasbro also appointed a new Brand President; Mr. John Frascotti. So, we joined the call unsure of what we might hear this time. Will it be good, bad or the usual? But we did not knew, that we were in for a treat as Hasbro made some important statements regarding the future of some of our beloved brands, including Transformers.

More than a year ago, TFW2005 revealed for the first time, a curious new Hasbro Trademark at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. The trademark is called AllSpark Pictures and it was only today that Hasbro revealed what it is. AllSpark Pictures is a new initiative by Hasbro where the Toy Company will produce Movies. Hasbro Studios will continue to provide content for the Television while AllSpark Pictures will cater the Live Action/Animated Movies.

The call contained:

The success of Transformers: Age Of Extinction

Transformers 5 Announced

AllSpark Pictures

Transformers: Robots In Disguise

You can find more information, after the jump.

TFW's Generations Chromia In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on October 19 '14 at 12:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
For our next gallery we present the other new addition in the next Generations Deluxe class assortment, Generations Chromia!

Chromia was one of the original female Autobots, introduced in the 1985 episode "The Search for Alpha Trion" along with Firestar, Moonracer, and Elita One. She's more recently received a new, updated design as one of the three female Transformers added to the IDW comics universe alongside Windblade and Nautica. This toy represents that new, updated design - but at the same time it does a good job of homaging the original Chromia. What it means for collectors is we get another female Autobot for our shelves!

The Chromia toy is a pretty cool bit of mold reuse on Hasbro's part. The basic transformation along with the torso, shoulders, hands, and parts of the legs are recycled from the Transformers Prime mainline Arcee toy - but the rest of the toy is completely reworked to the extent that Chromia is near indistinguishable from Prime Arcee, unless you stand them next to each other. Chromia keeps all the good stuff from the Arcee mold she is based on - poseability and balance are great, with only the shoulders occasionally being obstructed. Chromia is fairly light on accessories with just the one weapon, but she makes up for it by looking great and having a particularly cool alternate mode. She's worth taking a look at if you want another addition to your IDW Transformers characters shelves - check out our gallery and see for yourself.

Kre-O Battlechangers In-Hand Images
Posted by News Fetcher on October 19 '14 at 04:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via Jacquelyn Orenza on Facebook, we have a look at the upcoming Kre-O Transformers Battlechangers in hand. These figures are Transformers Kre-O sets which can transform between robot and alternate modes without the need to be disassembled. The first assortment seems to be giving us four classic characters in this format - Starscream, Grimlock, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. We're told these figures have fairly substantial backpacks to facilitate the transformations, but they look pretty cool - check out the images after the break.

TFW's Generations Arcee In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on October 18 '14 at 12:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Now we have something very special to share with you. A gallery of a toy who has been 28 years in the making. After so many years since her debut, we bring you this gallery of Hasbro's Transformers Generations Arcee!

Arcee is here a faithful recreation of her original Generation 1 design, as seen in 1986's Transformers the Movie. Everything about her design is directly inspired from how Arcee looked in the original animated movie - from the high-tech pink coupe alternate mode, to the slender build of her robot mode with the front wheel arches on the shoulders.

The look of the figure is spot on. The articulation is decent, although the legs do feel a little restricted by the design of the hips. Arcee is surprisingly good at balancing, considering the small feet and the amount of bulk on her backpack. The backpack is one of the negatives of this figure - owing to the source design, Hasbro has pretty much the entire alternate mode fold up on to the back. It tucks in well, and helps to get that nice, streamlined robot mode down pat, but if you don't like this kind of transformation, Arcee won't thrill you.

Arcee comes with an arsenal of accessories - two blasters which stow in alternate mode, and holster on the hips of the robot mode. Both are based on guns Arcee had used in the run of the Generation 1 cartoons she appeared in. Arcee also has a pair of swords, jointly inspired by her Animated toy and her current comic persona. These swords can be held as normal swords, or held as "gunblades" as well as mounted on the forearms, so there's a decent number of display options for them.

All in all, this Arcee toy is the Arcee toy we've been waiting for - a nice, faithful representation of the design from the show. She's not perfect, but she fills that Arcee shaped gap in our collections perfectly. Check out our gallery for over 150 pictures of this little lady:

Alfes2010 has shared some images of some of Takara-Tomy's October Transformers Age of Extinction Japanese market releases, including some images of the "Legendary Weapons" accessories being given away as a part of a promotional campaign.

Via Alfes' Twitter account, we have a look at a couple of those Legendary Weapon premiums - available free when spending 3,000 yen or more at specific retailers. In particular there are some great looks at the "Prime Axe" weapon.

Next on Alfes' blog we have a look at the Japanese market version of Power Battlers Galvatron. This "Lost Age" Galvatron is shown side-by-side with the other Japanese market releases of Galvatron toys - the Voyager class Generations Galvatron, and the One Step Changer. Which brings us nicely on to the next item!

Alfes has also shared images of the Japanese market One Step Changer four pack. This four pack collects the One Step Changers versions of Galvatron, Silver Knight Optimus Prime, Helicopter Drift and Dinobot Slug in a single box.

Check out the images for all of these and see what you think.

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store report that the Dual Model Kit version of Autobot Bumblebee - based on his appearance in Transformers Dark of the Moon - will be getting a rerelease in March 2015. This kit for those not aware does not transform, but sports good poseability and incredible detail compared to the on-screen model. Well worth taking a look at if you're a fan of the movies or a fan of Bumblebee!

TFW2005 member prime roller reports that the next assortments of Age of Extinction Power Battlers and One-Step Changers have been released in Taiwan. Power Battlers Wave 3 has been sighted (which adds Dinobots Grimlock, Slug and Snarl along with Decepticons Lockdown and Galvatron into the mix). One Step Changers Wave 4 has also been sighted. That assortment, the last of the Age of Extinction One Step Changers assortments, adds Prowl, Revenge of the Fallen Megatron, Rollbar and Strafe.

Hopefully this should mean a US release is not far behind. Watch this space for further updates.
