By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
he next DeNA Transformers: Legends event; Orion's Gambit is now live.

ORION PAX is ordered by ZETA PRIME to escort two DECEPTICON captives to a prisoner exchange. Unarmed, but thankfully accompanied by ALPHA TRION and NIGHTBEAT, the young AUTOBOT transports RACK’N’RUIN through the Rust Spot, when they are attacked by native beasts known as Slicers. The group is able to drive back the Slicers, and soon make it to their destination.

Despite overwhelming odds and being unarmed, ORION PAX and NIGHTBEAT begin to fight back, intent on retrieving their elderly friend. Much to the DECEPTICONS’ surprise, ORION PAX releases a hidden cache of weapons from within his trailer, and the AUTOBOTS gain the advantage.

Will the AUTOBOTS be able to rescue ALPHA TRION? Will BLUDGEON and the DECEPTICONS succeed in their sinister plans for the AUTOBOT elder? Find out on TRANSFORMERS Legends: “Orion’s Gambit”!

Rare Japanese Transformers the Movie Promo Video Footage
Posted by News Fetcher on December 24 '14 at 09:00 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Long time friend of the site TheSpacebridge has shared an exceptionally cool slice of Transformers lore with us. This 20 minute video is a digitization of a VHS promo for the 1986 Transformers the Movie. The video features a recap of the story so far in Japan, with openings for each Japanese show and toy commercials for each. It also includes the American trailer for the animated movie, and the promo reel made with test footage, which features an alternate cut of Autobot City transforming into battle mode, as well as Ultra Magnus in his Diaclone "Powered Convoy" colors.

While this footage all exists online, we thought it worthy of sharing with you as the quality is exceptionally good. Check it out embedded below:

Transformers: Age Of Extinction Becomes The Highest Grossing Movie Of 2014
Posted by News Fetcher on December 24 '14 at 09:00 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Well, this comes as no surprise. With just few days left to finish Year 2014, Box-Office Mojo has announced that Transformers: Age Of Extinction is the Highest Grossing Movie Of 2014.

AOE achieved this with a worldwide gross of nearly $1.1 Billion. Second place winner is Guardians of the Galaxy which is closely followed by Maleficent.

Guardian has this to say:

"Transformers: Age of Extinction has been named the highest-grossing film of 2014, thanks largely to huge success in China.

The fourth instalment in Michael Bay’s divisive, sci-fi saga took $1.087bn (£690m) around the world. More than $300m came from China, where the film overtook Avatar in July to become the highest-grossing movie of all time. Bay shot Age of Extinction in Hong Kong and hired Chinese stars such as Li Bingbing for supporting roles, thereby helping to encourage local interest."

Director Michael Bay has also been announced as the "Producer Of The Year", following the success of Transformers: Age Of Extinction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

X-Transbot: Apollyon Pictorial Review
Posted by News Fetcher on December 24 '14 at 09:00 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Slayback from Cybertron.CA has posted a review for X-Transbot: Apollyon.

The review is lengthy and discusses the figure in every little detail. The reviewer did not forget to include images of a prototype as well.

The following is a small extract from the review. Visit Cybertron.CA for the full review and images.

"I’m going to break this down into key points to make it simple.

There is a lot of weight in the legs. The weight I would say is in the feet as they are almost all metal. They’re not just a single molded piece; rather they are composed of several pieces that are hinged. Yes – the feet play a role in transformation and keep Apollyon standing firmly on whatever surface he’s on.

The feet are hinged on the top to simulate ankles. The feet can move up or down (eg keeping your heel on the ground while lifting the rest of your foot towards your shin.) He can point his toes down. He can roll his ankles, so his feet will always be firmly flat on whatever surface he’s on.

Apollyon does not suffer from skinny leg syndrome. He has thighs and they are ball jointed at the waist. He can show you his crotch should you wish it. Apollyon’s skirt does not hinder him from doing the side splits. However the front skirt will hinder him from bringing his knee to his chest.

Torso does twist at the waist. You can see down the waist but I don’t see this as an issue.

Apollyon has excellent head movement, although he cannot turn his head at a full 90-degree angle so it’s looking at his shoulder. It’s more at a 45 degree angle. At that angle, he does not look up or down.

Chest and upper torso is consistent with ‘Megatron’. He has two secret compartments in his chest. They will be a bit difficult to pop open, as they really are hidden parts.

Tom Scioli And John Barber Talks Transformers vs. G.I. Joe
Posted by News Fetcher on December 24 '14 at 09:00 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Comics Alliance had the pleasure to interview Tom Scioli and John Barber regarding Transformers vs. G.I. Joe Volume 1 which is hitting shelves early January.

ComicsAlliance: The amazing thing about Transformers vs. G.I. Joe for me as a reader is that it doesn’t feel like it should exist, and I mean that in the best way possible. It has this feeling that there’s no way this book should’ve been approved, because it’s so wild, raw and energetic. How did you get that feeling to come across in this comic?

Tom Scioli: I don’t know how you would get to that point with any kind of comic. Just from my perspective, I’ve been doing comics for such a long time and in such a way that’s very different from the normal career path for comics, so I don’t know how you replicate that. I don’t know how many other people are out there that would be able to have that mix of discipline and self-destructive chaotic impulse to get that. I don’t know, John? Do you have any perspective?

John Barber: To one degree or another, when you’re working on something that’s company-owned, you have to forget about that when you’re working on it, and I think that degree varies. The whole idea was to make something kind of weird, that went out the window at some point. There was probably a minute early on where Michael Kelly, the guy we work with at Hasbro as their Director of Global Publishing, called and he was like, “This isn’t exactly what we talked about.” He loves the book, but at some point, the idea was going to be safer. It’s not like there’s anything unsafe about this, either, but you want to be able to point at it and say “here are these two things that we put together to make one thing,” and I don’t think you can do that with our book. I think that’s what makes it interesting.

Million Publishing Shouki with Daniel In-Hand
Posted by News Fetcher on December 23 '14 at 06:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
TFW2005 member Masabon has kindly shared with us a selection of images of the Million Publishing mail-away exclusive Japanese Generations Shouki figure. Shouki is based on the Trainbot from the Japanese Generation 1 show The Headmasters, and comes with an exo-suited Daniel based on Micromaster Skystalker. Shouki himself is a redeco of Classics Astrotrain, and makes use of that shuttle mode to disguise himself as the Decepticon shuttle Thunder Arrow / Skystalker's shuttle.

Check out Masabon's pictures, attached to this post!

TFW's Combiner Wars Skydive In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on December 22 '14 at 02:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
We've got an early Christmas treat to share with you, in the form of a gallery of one of the new glorious Combiner Wars Transformers! First up is Skydive of the Aerialbots - one of the Wave 1 Deluxe Combiner Wars toys, who can form either an arm or a leg for a larger gestalt.

Skydive sticks close to his Generation 1 predecessor with this updated toy, right down to the general transformation - though there is some clever "scissoring" of the legs when going between jet and robot modes. The general transformation is shared with the other Aerialbots. It's simple yet effective - my only critique is that the arms do not really tuck away. However, the robot mode is solid, and there are not too many sacrifices made for the sake of combining. The deco is good, though personally I'd liked to have seen the thunderbolt details of the original retained - the gold stripes do not have the same amount of punch, in my view.

Overall, Skydive is a solid toy, as are his fellow Aerialbots, who we hope to share galleries of in the coming days. Check out Skydive in our new Combiner Wars galleries section below and see what you think of this cool addition to the Autobot air force!

Combiner Wars Firefly Production Process
Posted by News Fetcher on December 21 '14 at 06:45 PM
By Jacer from TFW2005:
Thanks again to the Official Transformer's Facebook page, we get a quick look at the production process of Combiner Wars Firefly! The image shows the progress of Firefly from the first sketches to grey prototype to the final design.

This is a follow up to Alpha Bravo which they did a couple days ago. What is interesting is that we have the same head design in the top right. Did they forget just to change the template or is there some more similarities between the two figures than meets the eye?

Discuss your thought in your discussion thread!
