Giga Power Guttur / Snarl Final Product Images
Posted by News Fetcher on January 18 '15 at 09:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Third party group Giga Power have updated their Facebook feed with a whole bunch of new images of their unofficial Masterpiece scaled Dinobot Snarl, Guttur.

Guttur is a big guy - much like the character he is based on - as can be evidenced by images of him next to the MP10 Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. There are also plenty of images showcasing the detail and the other features in Giga Power's first release, including an alternate robot mode head and a clear plastic cover for the dinosaur head, mirroring how the orginal Generation 1 Snarl had clear plastic in this location.

Guttur is expected to be released in March / April 2015, priced at approximately $199.95. According to the latest Facebook update, the first release will be limited, with 90% of the surface area painted and some bonus flame effect accessories included. In addition to the flame effect accessories, Guttur will also be available in two versions - a metallic colors version, and a chrome version, which will add chrome to the finished product in similar places to where it was found on the original Generation 1 Snarl.

Steeljaw Announced As The New Decepticon Leader For Transformers: Robots In Disguise
Posted by News Fetcher on January 17 '15 at 08:30 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
The news doesn't come as a surprise since we saw Steeljaw in almost every toy category for the new Transformers: Robots In Disguise, whereas his fellow Decepticons didn’t. We also saw him act as leader on various clips which went online recently. Now, Hasbro has announced the confirmation of Steeljaw as the new Decepticon Leader.

Hasbro stated:
Decepticons Vs. Decepticons? Kids can scan the new Steeljaw toy into the awesome Transformers: Robots in Disguise app and take on the villains as the Decepticon leader!

"Savor the daylight. Things are about to get rather dark."

Possible Combiner Wars Optimus Prime redeco, Rodimus and Classics Bumblebee Release
Posted by News Fetcher on January 17 '15 at 02:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The UK Toy Fair is due to kick off next week, but via an image posted on 4chan and reposted to imgur we have a look at a poster that is destined to decorate the Hasbro booth. The poster shows art from both Robots in Disguise and Combiner Wars - but among the familiar art, there are two new pieces shown.

The first one to draw your attention to is on the left of Robots in Disguise Grimlock. This robot, with a white head, is the combined mode of a redeco of Optimus Prime - compare the head design to Ultra Prime in the bottom right corner. It seems as though we are getting a white Voyager Optimus Prime redeco in our future. Could this be a new Ultra Magnus, or someone else given the fact that Ultra Magnus was previously rumored to be getting a Leader class toy?

Next, look closer at the artwork of the white-headed Combiner, and you'll see that Combiner Wars Blackjack is getting a redeco or retool as Rodimus - and he'll serve as a chest for the white-headed Combiner (which by extension, might be Magnus after all - Lost Light crew combiner, anyone?)

Lastly, take a look in the bottom left. This is some new artwork of the Classics Bumblebee design - suggesting the little bot might be getting a release somewhere - though it also would not be the first time for Hasbro to produce some new to promote a line using a character not getting a new release in the line.

A big thanks to TFW2005 member Gearshift for the heads up!

TFW's Combiner Wars Bombshell In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on January 17 '15 at 01:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
We're carrying on with our galleries of the Combiner Wars toys with a look at the new Generations Bombshell figure! Bombshell here is a Legends class figure in the Combiner Wars line who is an update of the Generation 1 Insecticon.

This new Legends class Bombshell is a great looking little figure. Right off the bat, his size and shape really evoke the look of the original Generation 1 figure, and Hasbro truly nailed the likeness to the original character with this one. He's got an excellent range of articulation, with the only thing that is missing being an articulated head. There's hints that at one point some kind of weapon mode might have been considered, like with Powerglide, given the gun-arms and 5mm peg knees, but nothing is mentioned in the instructions.

Overall, Bombshell is great and another strong release in the first assortment of Combiner Wars Legends. He's great either stand alone, or as a companion piece to last year's Skrapnel figure - now all we need is a Kickback to round out the trio!

Check out the gallery and see what you think of this Insecticon:

A new third party group has thrown their hat into the ring, with the announcement of an upgrade set for some of the new Generations toys. This new group, named "UltimateFansToys" (no relation to Fans Toys), have announced they will be making an add-on set that will give Generations Leader Jetfire new arms with articulated fingers, new arms for Generations Roadbuster with wrist swivels, and a selection of missile pods which can fit into any 5mm socket, such as the ones on the underside of Jetfire and the Combiner Wars Aerialbots' wings.

Transformers At UK Toy Fair 2015
Posted by News Fetcher on January 17 '15 at 09:00 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Q1 is the Toy Fair Season. Of course as always UK Toy Fair by British Toy & Hobby Association is opening the countless fairs including; Nuremberg, Australian, China and the biggest one of them all… New York. But unlike other Toy Fairs, the UK Toy Fair is closed for the general public and is only open to interested parties such as investors and potential licensees. They are especially careful after the G. I. Joe toy leaks in 2009.

At the UK Toy Fair, Hasbro is the biggest exhibitor on the show floor. This year, the main highlight is Transformers.

Grant Gie; the European Franchise Manager of Hasbro spoke to the media recently regarding the Transformers presence at UK Toy Fair 2015. TFW2005 listens to what Mr. Gie has to say:

Speaking about the Transformers toys in general he said "It was magical and let children essentially get two toys and two play patterns in one. However, the real magic was in the detail and execution of the product."

"The iconography has become globally popular so our key characters such as Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, as well as the Autobot and Decepticon shields are instantly recognizable and translate onto products from all categories."

Since licensees are very important to the brand, Mr. Gie stated "What we try to ensure is that our licensed partners strive to activate our brand DNA in all products. 'More Than Meets The Eye' – that can work well and provide consumers with a point of difference when executed on product".

He then talked briefly about the past year."The toys over the last 30 years have changed very little… until 2014, when we completely re-designed the line. The Paramount movie showcased our characters in high-speed action sequences converting from robot to vehicle mode at the blink of an eye. Hasbro wanted to bring that same movie magic to our product line."

Amongst the sightings are the larger sets which feature vehicles and a selection of Kreons, and also the custom Kreon sets for Robots in Disguise. That is pretty much everything that we know of so far for Kre-O for this line on the shelves in Taiwan - so far we just have reports of the boxed building sets in Singapore.

MP-23 Exhaust Deco Update
Posted by News Fetcher on January 15 '15 at 10:15 PM
By Jacer from TFW2005:
After a bit of concern of release of MP-23 Exhaust in North America we finally have an update on the figure. Back in November we reported about Exhaust's paint job that conflicted with Marlboro & Phillip Morris USA's trademark. Takara has now updated the deco with a slightly different design on the hood to not clash with the trademark.

Possible Robots in Disguise Three-Step Sideswipe Revealed?
Posted by News Fetcher on January 15 '15 at 12:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via Italian marketplace site Terminal Video Italia, we have a look at a transformation scheme for what we think might be a Three Step Changer Robots in Disguise Sideswipe.

The image comes from a listing for the Warrior class toys assortment, but the image shows a Sideswipe that transforms in three distinct and easy steps. Hence it seems to be showing us that a Three Step Changer Sideswipe has at the very least been designed as a concept, or more likely will be coming in a future assortment - we'd imagine it will be coming in Three Step Changers Wave 3.

One to watch for more information - it is entirely likely that the upcoming US Toy Fair will reveal all!

Our sponsors HLJ have sent us some new images of the Takara-Tomy Legends LG-13 Megatron, along with some details concerning the preorders. You can check out the images attached to this post - you might want to use caution as it has been noted these images carry a disclaimer to the effect of "product not final".

The update to the preorder details, is that preorders for Legends Megatron will have a cut-off date and that date is 25 January 2015 - so you have ten days to get those preorders in!

HLJ's preorder for Legends Megatron can be found here:

Additionally HLJ also wanted to let us know that preorders for a rerelease of the super-popular MP-10 Masterpiece Convoy are now available. This toy needs no introduction - it is the definitive high-end reimagining of the Optimus Prime who graced our TV screens in the 1980s, a release that perfectly encapsulates the character and is the definition of what it means to be a Masterpiece Transformer.

Combiner Wars Wave 2 Deluxes to Include Comic Books?
Posted by News Fetcher on January 15 '15 at 11:15 AM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
Back when Combiner Wars was first announced, it was said by Hasbro that the figures would continue to include the IDW comics, as was the case in the previous Thrilling 30 line. However, many fans were baffled to find that the first wave of Combiner Wars figures not only lacked the comics, but also had bilingual packaging.

Fortunately, it looks like that may not be the case for wave 2. TFW2005 boards member Nevermore has uncovered some new images of the figures, which both include the Combiner Wars comics and lack the previous bilingual packaging.

You can pre-order you Combiner Wars wave 2 figures here at site sponsor BigBadToyStore!

Following on from the previous Fan Built Bot Poll which resulted in the creation of the Windblade character, Hasbro has put out a new press release announcing a new poll for the fans - and this time, it's for a full combiner! That's right, voting in the Fan Built Combiner Poll will, in the end, result in a team of original characters that will come together to create a new, original combiner character for the Generations Combiner Wars line.
