Rescue Bots Blurr Revealed and Released at Hong Kong Retail
Posted by News Fetcher on January 28 '15 at 05:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Here's a pleasant surprise - a new Transformers toy we knew nothing about has arrived at retail! TFW2005 member Kaiser reports that he has found a Rescue Bots version of Blurr at retail in Hong Kong. Blurr is a flashy looking purple race car with the style and aesthetics of the other recent Rescue Bots releases.

He's been found alongside the new mold Optimus Prime, who is a new sighting at retail in Hong Kong. There's been no sighting of Salvage, though, who was also previously teased as coming soon - so perhaps Blurr has raced into the new assortment ahead of Salvage?

TFW's Combiner Wars Silverbolt In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on January 27 '15 at 01:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Next up, we're on to the Voyagers in our series of galleries looking at the new Combiner Wars Transformers toys, and so, here's Silverbolt! The leader of the Aerialbots with the crippling fear of heights is the first of the Generation 1 combiner team leaders to be updated for the Combiner Wars line, and he's rather cool.

Silverbolt himself is a great and faithful update of the original, right down to the passenger jet alternate mode that looks close to his original concord alternate mode. The robot mode likewise nails the look of the original, with all the style of an updated design much as we have been seeing throughout the Combiner Wars line. Silverbolt comes with a pair of accessories - a long rifle and a shield, both of which can mount on the arms, though the rifle also fits into Silverbolt's hands. The two accessories combine into a huge weapon which can mount beneath the nose of the jet mode. It even features a fake wheel molded in to compensate for the fact it covers the landing gear when attached.

The main draw of the Combiner Wars toys, though, is combining them into a single gigantic robot, and Silverbolt serves as the torso of the combination. Any four limbs can attach to form a gigantic and poseable combined mode - and make no mistake, the big guy, Superion, can hold poses well. Even simply combining the toys is a joy to do.

Silverbolt is a great example of what the Combiner Wars line is all about. He's solid on his own, but comes into his own if you also have the Deluxe class toys to make the limbs for his combined mode. Well worth checking out - and on that note, check out our gallery at the link below:

Transformers: Animated The Complete AllSpark Almanac Cover & New Details
Posted by News Fetcher on January 26 '15 at 05:15 PM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
Jim Sorenson has just put out a hefty update for the Transformers: Animated The Complete AllSpark Almanac on his blog, Disciples of Boltax. First up, we have the new cover itself, drawn by Marcelo Matere and colored by Josh Perez. Secondly, Jim confirms that the book will include The AllSpark Almanac Addendum which was assembled for the Transformers Collectors' Club magazine, and about ten pages of new content teasing more of what Season 3.5 might look like. Here's the full quote form Jim himself:

"It looks like The Complete AllSpark Almanac is just three short weeks away, with an ETA of February 18th at fine comic book stores everywhere. (Probably hitting Amazon shortly thereafter, available for preorder now.) Here's Marcelo Matere's beautiful cover for the book, with excellent Josh Perez colors. (Josh also lent his talents to some of the new bonus material inside the book.)

For those of you who missed our Radio Free Cybertron interview, this is going to be a massive, 472 page tome that combines The AllSpark Almanac, The AllSpark Almanac II, The AllSpark Almanac Addenda we put together for the Transformers Collectors' Club, and ten-ish pages of new content teasing more of what Season 3.5 might look like. We worked closely with Derrick Wyatt to ensure that the book was as close to 100% canon as possible, with all new material carefully vetted (and a bit of old material tweaked or recontextualized.) I hope that you all get a big kick out of this one. V1 and V2 are insanely hard to find and fetch ridiculous prices on the secondary market, so it's very nice to get this material back in print where everyone can get a copy."

The book will be available in three weeks, on February 18 - be sure to pick yours up!

Although this figure is not officially released yet to the masses and changes to the figure could occur, it's worth pointing out that this is also our first look at a modified head sculpt, which is different from the promotional images we first saw back in July 2014.

How close to a final figure do you believe this is? How about that head sculpt? Sound off with the discussion link below!

TFW2005 member Sioce spotted Optimus Prime at a Target in Temecula, CA. We've not got confirmation on a sighting of Drift, but it's safe to say that Drift should also be out in the wild, given the pair are shipping together as the two new figures in Warrior Wave 2. A big thanks to Sioce for the sighting and Silvershot for flagging it up with us!

Hasbro Applies For A Go-Bots Movie And Toyline Trademark
Posted by News Fetcher on January 26 '15 at 12:00 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Following the success of the first Michael Bay Live Action Transformers Movie back in 2007, Hasbro worked with movie studios around the world to bring your childhood toys into the big-screen. From toys such as G. I. Joe to board games like Battleship and Ouija, Hasbro is a live action movie machine with more live action movies such as Jem And The Holograms and Candyland down the pipeline.

It so happens that TFW2005 has stumbled upon another possible live action movie and a toyline from Hasbro. Once rivals of the Transformers Franchise, Gobots became the property of Hasbro when they acquired Tonka; the original creators of Gobots.

On January 21st and on January 24th, Hasbro has applied for a new Go-Bots trademark (this is not a renewal) under "distribution of motion pictures, ongoing television programs" and "Toys, games and playthings, namely, toy vehicles and accessories for use therewith".

You can check out the Trademark documents from the United States Patent & Trademark Office here and here.

This line is being speculated by our members as being a fit into the current line of Masterpiece styled Transformers, a trend that is taking the third party collecting world by storm. From Maketoys:

"Re:master " , in a time where scale is everything.....Re:master is a new series to bring a new twist, new gimmicks, and maybe even a new scale to the world of transforming robots. An instant classic to an already bright and vibrant world of robots, we hope Re:master will have a place in everyone's hearts......and on their shelves!

No physical prototypes are available yet, but Maketoys showed off three blacked out silhouettes, and although we all would love to see a product shown off in full for the reveal this news is still exciting enough given the characters announced: RM-01 Cupola (Chromedome), RM-02 Gun Dog (Hound), RM-03 Hellfire (Inferno). Click on the individual links to take you to TFW's discussion thread of each figure.

So what do you think of Maketoys apparent entrance into Masterpiece scaled third party figures? Excited for the characters? Let us know what you think!

Rumor - Generations Legends Gnaw & Brawn set for Release in 2015?
Posted by News Fetcher on January 25 '15 at 12:00 PM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
TFW2005 boards member griffin-of-oz has brought something interesting to our attention today - Bidoofdude of Ozformers.com reportedly wrote to Hasbro asking if Generations Legends Gnaw with Gnash and Brawn with Mudslinger would still be released. We had last heard of these figures before via leaked listings, but we haven't heard of them since, leading to some speculation that they may have been cancelled. However, Hasbro responded that they are indeed still planned to come out, and will be released some time in 2015, likely as part of the Combiner Wars line-up.

You can read the exchange below:

I've noticed that the Generations Legends Class figures for this year skip numbers #11 through #17. Is there a reason for this? Is it related to the listed Legends Brawn with Mudslinger and Gnaw with Gnash that seemingly didn't happen?

Could we be seeing Brawn (and less importantly, Gnaw) as a Legends figure in the Combiner Wars toyline in the coming year, as he is the only 1984 minibot without a figure yet?

To which Hasbro responded with:

There are plans for the distribution of these characters in 2015, unfortunately I do not have an exact date of arrival.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but if true, we could very likely be seeing these figures at rapidly-approaching New York Toy Fair.
