Hasbro Transformers website updates to Robots in Disguise
Posted by News Fetcher on January 06 '15 at 01:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Hasbro Transformers website has now fully updated to reflect the new show that is coming our way in February, Robots in Disguise! The site now features video clips (reported earlier), a section to talk about the characters complete with one-line bios, a toys section (including a dedicated Combiner Wars section with some sweet Superion artwork), and last but not least, a Comic Creator.

The Comic Creator is an interesting one - it's basic, but it gives a look at some different stock art of the various characters. The way text is handled is by selecting quotes from a list. Some of the quotes seem suitably ominous - "I sense the Allspark is near" being a big one. "Citizens of the human-hive, prepare for destruction" is another. If these two lines are actually in the series, and not just something Hasbro made up for this, there's some interesting things ahead.

On the toys front, there is not much in the way of new reveals - except - on the images linking to the Hero Mashers sections, you can see a glimpse of the Robots in Disguise Hero Mashers Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Steeljaw.

Be sure to check out the new-look Transformers.com!

Warbotron WB-03C Nosecone
Posted by News Fetcher on January 06 '15 at 11:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Warbotron has updated their Facebook with images of one of their next unofficial Technobots. The as-yet unnamed WB-03C is a take on the Technobot Nosecone, who transforms into a drill tank. The robot mode seems a fairly faithful take on Nosecone, and there seems to be a weapon concealed within the drillbit. The drill tank mode may be one that divides opinion - unlike the original Nosecone, whose drill was flat against the front of the tank, this Warbotron Nosecone has the drill on an arm which can be angled - arguably more of a realistic approach to the design, though a departure from the classic Generation 1 design we know and love.

Mega Steel Granville (Megatron) - Colored Test Shot Images
Posted by News Fetcher on January 06 '15 at 07:15 AM
By Matty from TFW2005:
Coming way via the Weibo account of third party group Mega Steel, we have brand new colored test shot images of their Granville figure, inspired by the Decepticon leader Megatron. These new images show off the figure in Megatron's recognizable grey and black color scheme, as well as some minor changes including the chest detailing that has been removed from the prototype we saw images of earlier. No pricing or release date information is available at this time, but the project seems to be closing in on completion.

TFW2005's AoE Slog (G1 Colors) Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on January 05 '15 at 07:30 AM
By Tony_Bacala from TFW2005:
The SDCC 2014 Dinobots set was a mix of new and old, giving us the Age of Extinction Dinobots in G1 colors along with a kick ass pop-up-book like Ark. There was only one problem, we only got 4 of the 5 original Dinobots. Not soon after, they announced that the 5th member of the team, Slog (aka Sludge) would be getting a matching paint job and be released separately through Amazon. He went up for pre-order pretty soon after that announcement, and he is now finally shipping 5 months later.

We've done up a gallery of Slog in action along with his SDCC brothers. Read on to check some key shots; you can view the entire gallery here: TFW2005's Age of Extinction G1 Slog Gallery

If you'd like to complete your set, you can grab your own over at Amazon.com - they still have some in stock: Transformers Generation 1 Voyager Class Slog Action Figure.

Transformers Age of Extinction Nominated for the Razzies
Posted by News Fetcher on January 04 '15 at 11:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
It seems to be a tradition now, any new Transformers movie is followed by a series of nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies. Movieweb reports that Transformers Age of Extinction has been nominated in several categories, including Worst Picture, Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Combo (for which it says "any two humans / robots"), Worst Director, and surprisingly, Kelsey Grammer gets a nomination for Worst Supporting Actor. Sophia Myles rounds off the list with a nomination for Worst Supporting Actress.

Do you feel these nominations are justified? Do you feel a strong sense of deja vu toward the grand majority of these nominations? Share your thoughts in the discussion thread.

TFW's Combiner Wars Alpha Bravo In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on January 03 '15 at 01:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
It's time for another installment in our series of gallery updates focusing on the new Combiner Wars line! Our latest addition is Alpha Bravo - the new member of the Aerialbot team.

Alpha Bravo is a fairly heavily armed looking military helicopter - and one that can become even more heavily armed with the addition of his weapons. His robot mode and his deco are inspired by Generation 1 Aerialbot Slingshot, whose position he takes on the team. In spite of the different alternate mode, he fits in well with the other Aerialbots. His poseability is good, though his hips tend to catch on his torso in some positions. His transformation is very similar to Firefly and Skydive - only without wings, his arms are just left by his sides. They disguise well, though.

Overall, Alpha Bravo is a fun addition to the lineup of the new Aerialbots. He's a bold statement that Hasbro is willing to mix things up and not just slavishly update the original Generation 1 toys. And above all else, he looks great! Check out our gallery and see for yourself:

Robots in Disguise Three Step Changer Optimus Prime Robot Mode Images
Posted by News Fetcher on January 03 '15 at 06:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via Smyths Toys and Merlin.pl, we now have official stock images of the new Robots in Disguise Three Step Changer Optimus Prime in robot mode to go with the alternate mode and in-package images we had seen previously. Three Step Optimus is a much bulkier version of the character - but arguably this better reflects the fact that Optimus is a big 'bot.

Check out the images attached to this post - we've also included the alternate mode and in-box images for reference.

Robots in Disguise Cast List and Voice Actors for the first 13 episodes
Posted by News Fetcher on January 02 '15 at 03:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The good stuff keeps rolling in for the new Transformers show, Robots in Disguise! Via TFClub and TFW2005 member Freccia, we have the complete cast listings for the first 13 episodes of the show. As well as the core cast, who we learned of at the New York Comic Con, we know that Roger Craig Smith will be lending his voice talents to several characters, along with Frank Stallone (that's the son of Sylvester Stallone) as Thunderhoof, and Jim Cummings as Clampdown. Surprisingly, while Peter Cullen reprises his role as Optimus Prime, he is only credited in a handful of episodes - looks like all of you who wished for a "Prime and Megatron free series" may be getting your wish, at least for these 13 episodes.

We've posted the full cast list - along with the episodes that they are credited for where appropriate - after the break. Naturally, this information has a fair few spoilers - proceed with caution!

Botcon 2015 Comic Preview Art
Posted by News Fetcher on January 02 '15 at 05:00 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Botcon have posted some preview artwork for the Botcon 2015 set via their Twitter account. The penciled preview art for the 2015 comic shows off the world of Axiom Nexus as rendered by Matt Frank.

From the artwork, we can see a few familiar faces in the crowds, including Stampy from Beast Wars Neo, two female robots with Windblade's design - and also, a character with the vehicle mode of Generations Springer.

While many of these are background characters, it seems to imply that this year's convention figure set will use the Springer mold in some fashion, given the vehicle is a focal point in the last panel and almost certainly is the reason for the preceding two establishing shots.

By Matty from TFW2005:
The third party group Guilty has just revealed their next full figure project, which will be a War for Cybertron / Fall of Cybertron inspired Ultra Magnus figure named Incarnate. We have prototype images showing off both the robot mode, which is roughly deluxe scaled, and alternate mode. The paint job we see in the images is hand painted and not indicative of the final finish.

No release date or pricing info is available at this time. Check out the full set after the jump.
