Jagex Transformers Universe Wheeljack and Knock Out Revealed
Posted by News Fetcher on September 09 '14 at 12:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Transformers Universe Facebook page has unveiled concept artwork for two new characters soon to be added to the game. As leaked at the weekend, we know that Knock Out from Transformers Prime will be joining the fight on the Decepticon side, sporting a modified version of his Transformers Prime design. Appearing alongside him, and also sporting a modified Prime design, will be Wheeljack! This version of Wheeljack is less the nutty profeswsor of Generation 1 and more the mercenery samurai of Transformers Prime, if those katana he is packing are any indication.

That's not all though as the Transformers Universe crew will be running some more Twitch streams - the times to be on their channel are Wednesday (tomorrow) at 6pm BST and then Thursday at 7pm BST, for gameplay demonstrations, tutorials and general fun!

Additionally you might like to know that Jagex will be at EGX on 25th-28th September 2014 at Earl's Court in London! If you're attending or if you happen to be in that part of the world be sure to visit the crew and try out the game!

TCC Figure Subscription Service Nacelle New Image
Posted by News Fetcher on September 09 '14 at 12:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The TCC has tweeted a new image of their figure subscription service Nacelle figure. Nacelle is based on a product catalog from the 1980s which showed the prototypes of Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet using the bodies of the original trio of Seekers - represented here using the Classics Starscream body mold with the Botcon 2007 Thrust wings tooling. As a result it is something of a new design since this particular combination of parts has never before been released at retail or as an exclusive. And, like Masterpiece Exhaust, it is lifting an extremely obscure alternate design never used for Transformers and giving it an identity.

Check out the new image, and if you're interested, head over to the Transformers Collectors Club homepage to find out more and sign up for the third year of the TCC figure subscription service, which will feature, in addition to Nacelle, a Generation 2 Starscream, Serpent O.R., Krok with Gatoraider, Carzap with G.B. Blackrock Kreon, and a pre-Beast Wars Tarantulas with his bug drones.

TFW's Generations Gears with Eclipse In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on September 08 '14 at 12:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Next up we've got a look at one of the Legends class Generations toys who've yet to hit shelves - it's Autobot Gears with Autobot Eclipse! This duo are a part of a Legends assortment which by all rights should be out right now - the following wave, with Cliffjumper, is already at US retail, so who knows when these two might make their appearance?

Gears is, simply put, fantastic. We've been waiting a good long while for an updated, Classics-style Gears to round out the original six Minibots (if you count Botcon 2007 Huffer - if not, rumor goes there's a new one of him coming too...) . Like the Generation 1 toy, this new Gears shares a mold with Swerve. The truck mode is spot-on to Gears, with the robot mode only lacking a little red on the flat panel behind the head and the cheeks to really seal the deal. Like Swerve he's got decent articulation, serviceable but not mind-blowing, and no head articulation sadly. Eclipse, an update of Micromaster Eagle Eye, is a cool little addition and as with Flanker, who came with Swerve, he makes a great gun for his partner robot.

Together these two make a great set, and will be worth tracking down, as and when they make an appearance at retail. Check out our gallery and see what you think:

Funko Pop Vinyl Age of Extinction Bumblebee and Stinger
Posted by News Fetcher on September 07 '14 at 01:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via the Funko Pop Mania Facebook page, we can bring you word of the latest Pop Vinyl Transformers releases planned by Funko. Next up are a pair of Walmart exclusives based on Transformers Age of Extinction - there's a Bumblebee vinyl, and a red version of Bumblebee to represent his evil twin, Stinger. Bizarrely, Stinger uses the non-battlemasked head, rather than the one with the battlemask he used throughout his scenes in Age of Extinction. This is probably because he's just a straight repaint of Bumblebee, but it still looks odd. Check out the image and see for yourself.

TFW's Generations Crosscut In-Hand Gallery
Posted by News Fetcher on September 06 '14 at 10:00 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Rounding out our look at the current crop of Generations Deluxes, here's Crosscut! Crosscut is another character who does not really exist in the established lore - he's based on the alternate Diaclone version of Skids whose sole Transformers release before this toy was as an E-Hobby exclusive, which is where this character's bio comes from.

As a toy, we're happy to report that Crosscut appears to not suffer from the hip-related issues that dragged Skids down. The new head tooling is pretty sharp and accurately captures the look of the original Diaclone head, and the use of metallic red paint on the toy is a nice surprise. Functionally, this is the same toy as Skids though, so all that was good and bad about Skids other than the aforementioned hips is present here.

All in all, a nice homage to the pre-Transformers origins of the brand, and a good addition to any Generations or Classics shelf. Check out our gallery at the link below to see what you think:

UK Transformers, G.I. Joe and Action Force convention Roll Out Roll Call 2014 will be taking place on the weekend of 11th and 12th of October 2014 at the Jury's Inn in Southampton, England! It's a 30th birthday celebration for Transformers and a 50th for G.I. Joe, and they're even fitting in Masters of the Universe!

There is a great guest list for you to look forward to meeting including the legendary G.I. Joe writer Larry Hama, the ever-awesome Transformers artist Nick Roche and colorist John Paul Bove. Emilano Santalucia who has done many MOTU and Transformers toy designs will also be in attendance as will Boss Fight Studios - the sculptors behind Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers and many more Hasbro lines, along with their own work. Top guys and freelance third party toy designers Ceno Kibble and Cassy Sark will also be in attendance along with G.I. Joe Declassified's Gary Head. Plus you will also have the chance to meet James Eatock of Cereal Geek, illustrator / designer Eamon O' Donoghue, writer of "Fall of G.I. Joe" Karen Traviss, illustrator Jessica Bradley Bove and the podcasters Back to the Eighties and The Full Force.

That's not all, because in association with Fun Publications, GI Joe and Transformers Subscription Service and Member figures will be available at the convention, at a cheaper rate than buying them direct online! There will also be some Masters of the Universe convention exclusives offered.

All this and Mattel, as with previous years, are supplying this year's exclusive Convention figure - Goat Man!

There's lots of good stuff in store for the weekend and maybe, just maybe a special treat in store for Visionaries fans...

Posted by News Fetcher on September 05 '14 at 04:00 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Jagex have posted an update on transformersuniverse.com bringing us up to speed on the latest happenings in the exciting Transformers MOTA game world!

The update kicks off with a rundown on tweaks to the game's matchmaking and making the game more welcoming to new players - including the introduction of a VR training room for you to hone your skills with your chosen characters.

Closing off the update we have a rundown of new features in store throughout September and into October. These include:

A challenge system - introduced on Wednesday! This system lets you lay down challenges to other players - but this is just the first iteration of the system with lots of plans to add more depth and rewards as time progresses.

17 September will see a new map added to the Elimination game mode, Drummond Gorge, which is said to offer a different set of tactics and challenges. At the same time, the outer base maps are due for a visual upgrade.

This will be followed on 24 September with the Santa Vega TDM being upgraded to address some of the known issues with the battle map, and to make the central part of the map more friendly to vehicles.

1 October will introduce an all-new game mode - Recon! Recon is a capture the flag mechanic where you cannot transform while you have the flag. It is initially rolling out on a dedicated map for that mode, with others to be added over time.

And of course, there are new characters coming! The previously revealed Outsider and Pandemic are coming in September. They will be followed in October by two characters whose names you may know, Flamewar and Chromia! Flamewar and Chromia will be the first 'bots based on Transformers lore to be added as playable characters - but not the last if that Knock Out tease was anything to go by...

Protectobots Emergency Rescue Streetsmart In-Hand Images

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
TFW2005 member Maz dropped us a line to let us know that he has some in-hand images of the Protectobots Emergency Response three-pack's Streetsmart on his blog. Streetsmart along with the rest of the Emergency Rescue pack are reuses of Transformers Prime toys, in this case the Beast Hunters Prowl tooling. At this moment in time it's not clear where this set is intended for a release, though the general thought is these could be Asian market releases or as-yet unannounced store exclusives.

In the meantime, check out these sharp in-hand images!
