Age of Extinction Flip and Change Optimus Prime and Grimlock Two-Pack
Posted by News Fetcher on May 23 '14 at 11:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Fresh from the Transformers Colombia Facebook page, we have a look at a two pack of the Transformers: Age of Extinction Flip and Change Optimus Prime and Grimlock figures. This version collects the two toys who are usually sold separately at retail, and assembles them into a single two pack. And while it might be a trick of photoshop in the photos, it seems as though the two pack versions might feature darker paint compared to their single pack releases.

No word on when this might be coming out, or if it might be a store exclusive set, although it seems likely that this will be an exclusive of some description.

Changes To Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction Release Schedule Due To FIFA World Cup 2014
Posted by News Fetcher on May 23 '14 at 08:45 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Many of our 2005 Boards Members saw this coming and yes; Paramount is officially changing the Transformers: Age Of Extinction Release Date on certain countries due to FIFA World Cup 2014.

Paramount officials spoke to Business Week regarding the matter.

"When the robot hero Optimus Prime returns to movie theaters in June, his toughest foes might not be other transformers but Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Paramount Pictures (VIAB) will release Transformers: Age of Extinction in the U.S., Asia, and parts of Europe smack in the middle of soccer’s World Cup, which runs from June 12 through July 13 in Brazil. The studio will delay the movie’s launch date in many soccer-crazed countries until after the tournament ends to avoid a dent in the box office.

The World Cup, the second-biggest global sporting event after the Olympics, coincides with the peak of the movie industry’s big-budget summer season. “The World Cup will continue to pose more and more of an issue,” says Anthony Marcoly, president of international distribution at Paramount, which is owned by Viacom."

For many Football/Soccer playing countries the new release date is end of July or early August. You can read the Revised Release Dates at the Official Transformers Movie Website.

MakeToys Announces Citybot MCB-03 Pandinus
Posted by News Fetcher on May 23 '14 at 08:00 AM
By StayingInTheBox from TFW2005:
Third party group MakeToys has been on a roll lately and they do not appear to be slowing down. Announced earlier today on their website are plans for a new Citybot transformer named Pandinus. This figure is a clear homage to the menacing Decepticon Scorponok, but the design sketches reveal a very different take on the character while still remaining true and recognizable to the Generation 1 character. MakeToys provided a brief description of this next Citybot:

The Next Citybot will be Pandinus! The Pandinus is under development and we are revealing some of the conceptual sketches. The initial idea was to develop a bulky and muscular character that can transform into a giant scorpion and a ruined city. It features a pair of giant claw-like arms and a huge scorpion stinger. Further information on gimmicks and an alternate mode will be announced later.

No other information is available at this time, so keep it locked on TFW to stay up to date as this project rolls along. Images after the jump!

This day in Transformers history - 1984
Posted by News Fetcher on May 22 '14 at 02:00 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Did you know, Transformers fans, that today marks another 30th anniversary milestone in the history of Transformers? Yes indeed, today is the 30th anniversary of what is thought to be the first ever post about Transformers on the internet - or rather, the proto-internet Usenet groups.

You can check out the archived post here, via Google Groups.

Sadly the first post ever about Transformers on the internet was in fact, complaining about Transformers! The post, a review of Marvel Comics' Transformers #1, picks fault with Bill Mantlo's plot and Ralph Macchio's script, and the massive amount of infodumping used to introduce the characters - valid complaints, particularly the infodumping (check out an example at left). The final verdict?

My vote for worst comic of the year would have to go to Marvel's
TRANSFORMERS #1. Has anyone out there seen it? I'm still trying
to figure out why I wanted to spend $.75 on it in the first place,
but any reason I may have had was inadequate.

Or, to borrow a turn of phrase from the TFwiki: "The Transformers launched in 1984 and was ruined FOREVER!"

In all seriousness, much as the original creative team behind the Transformers in the 1980s could not foresee the huge phenomenon that Transformers would become, neither could those reading that first comic and sharing their thoughts about its humble beginnings begin to imagine where it all might finally lead to, 30 years later, with fans ever ready to lend a similarly critical eye to all new Transformers media.

As we were told, the Transformers: Age Of Extinction footage shown in Sydney yesterday came from the Cinemacon footage which was revealed by some journalists at that time. Now, of all the footage descriptions we've read so far… this is the most detailed of them all and contains major spoilers.

Furthermore, our member is answering questions based on the footage he saw, at the thread associated with this news post.

Figure King reveals Bearbrick Optimus Prime, Tokyo Toy Show Bluestreak and more
Posted by News Fetcher on May 21 '14 at 10:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
We have received some new scans from Figure King which show off some cool new stuff coming out in Japan. There is another entry in the list of "weird and wonderful things Optimus Prime can turn into" with a Bearbrick x Transformers crossover, which features a version of Optimus Prime transforming into the iconic Bearbrick figure. It is only an unpainted resin prototype at this stage, so no word on whether the Bearbrick mode might have some special Transformers themed deco.

There are also some images showcasing the latest on Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, who features an alternate shouting face (or maybe it's an "Open, dammit, open!" face). The Spike and Daniel figures are also shown in prototype form, and what little we can see suggests they are both based on their Season 3 silver jumpsuits.

There is also a callout showing the Tokyo Toy Show version of Masterpiece Streak. He is based on the original Generation 1 toy, so he's a full silver Datsun without the black roof. He also seems to be set to include the Amazon launchers, which have been recolored to have red bases on the launchers, rather than black.

There is also a look at a D-Arts Optimus Prime, and some of the new licensed product from Artstorm including the EX Gokin Optimus Prime and Grimlock. A big thanks goes to 2005 Boards member Type-R for sharing this with us.
