Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction Possible New Robot Name Revealed
Posted by News Fetcher on June 15 '14 at 09:45 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Los Angeles Times has published an article regarding the involvement of General Motors in the upcoming Michael Bay movie; Transformers: Age Of Extinction. In other words… Product Placement.

The "Transformers" franchise is uniquely suited to automotive product placement because many main characters are cars that change into robots. In the film, a Trax transforms into a robot of the same name. The car appears in a portion of the movie that was shot and takes place in China.

"This is the first big American brand making a play for China via product placement," said Deborah Harpur, chief executive of Mogul Inc., an entertainment marketing agency specializing in product placement. "It's a fantastic platform to do this kind of deal."

Paramount and GM began discussing the appearance of the Trax in the film in late 2012, said LeeAnne Stables, executive vice president of worldwide marketing partnerships for Paramount.

GM indicated that it would soon be launching a new SUV that would target "young, urban twentysomethings." Stables said that in China that same demographic has come of age with "Transformers" movies, making the Trax a good fit for the film.

Casey Kasem Has Passed Away
Posted by News Fetcher on June 15 '14 at 09:00 AM
By ORIO from TFW2005:
It saddens us here at TFW2005 to bring you the news that voice actor and legendary radio star, Casey Kasem, has passed away at the age of 88. If you were a fan of the original Transformers cartoon, Casey Kasem provided the voices for Cliffjumper, Bluestreak, Dr. Arkeville and Teletraan-1. He was also known for his roles as Shaggy on Scooby Doo and Robin on the Super-Friends. Outside of voice acting, he was known as the host of American Top 40 and had one of the most prolific careers in radio. Unfortunately, the last several months of Casey's life has had it's share in drama. In October of last year, he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. A disease often confused with Parkinson's. The disease left Kasem unable to speak. On June 12th, his family took him off of life support, and he passed away earlier today.

Our condolences go out to his family, friends and fans. One last long distance dedication from us here at TFW, thanks for getting Megatron dead set in your view finder!

Interview With Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction VFX Supervisor Scott Farrar
Posted by News Fetcher on June 14 '14 at 10:15 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Nuke The Fridge had the pleasure to talk with Scott Farrar; VFX supervisor of Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

Mr. Farrar explains that there will be more talking characters (with regards to robots) than the previous movies and the new movie is the start of a new Trilogy.

He also praises Director Michael Bay for the amazing work he did for the movie and tells that they are still working on some scenes that need tweaking. The effects on the new movie are more practical than any other movie Mr. Farrar has worked on. He says that his favorite character is Bumblebee but there are some great new characters.

Here's the best part: Mr. Farrar says that the introduction of Dinobots led them to do some cool scenes involving Flying, Running and Charging. "Instead of characters that turn into Humanoid Robots or Cars, these characters are Humanoids that turn into Dinosaurs."

Finally, he says that they are talking about Transformers 5 and 6 but need to wait and see what happens.
