Transformers: Universe - PCGamer Interviews Jagex CCO Alex Horton
Posted by News Fetcher on March 14 '14 at 12:45 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
PCGamer had the pleasure to interview Alex Horton ; Chief Creative Officer at Jagex who works for the Transformers: Universe MOBA game.

What’s the process like of creating brand new characters in the Transformers Universe? Is there a difficult approval process with Hasbro on that sort of stuff?
Hasbro have been fantastic partners to work with on Transformers Universe. Collaborating with the team there we’ve bought our collective experiences together, combining artists, game designers and the deepest knowledge on the world of Transformers to create a great selection of Autobots and Decepticons for you to command in battle. We’ve even surprised the Hasbro guys by bringing back some seriously obscure transformers from the depths of Cybertronian time.

Obviously the game had a bit of radio silence in 2013. Were you waiting for the new Transformers movie to help you capture a bit more of that potential casual crowd?
2013 was a big year for the game. We made some major decisions during that time to ensure that we could bring the best possible product to market. We chose to maintain a silence as we knuckled down and focused on engineering a game for the long term. With a desire to bring more fluidity to play whilst maintaining our ultra-secure platform and client-server technology we opted to integrate third-party middleware with multi-platform capabilities into the way we make games at Jagex. We’re building a game service to run for the next decade, and whilst we love the movies it's not something to base the launch of our game around.

Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction Updated Super Bowl Spot
Posted by News Fetcher on March 14 '14 at 12:15 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
When the Super Bowl Spot for Transformers: Age Of Extinction came out, the biggest complaint was the incomplete CGI.

However, rectifying the possibly rushed trailer, Paramount has uploaded the updated version of the Superbowl Spot. 2005 Boards Member fallen_revenge who discovered this updated trailer has also identified the changes:

Sequence of Lockdown walking towards the camera features new CGI from the Teaser Trailer with added details to the Nightship.

Face transformation of Lockdown contains new CGI elements

Added details and new lighting for Optimus

Galvatron's arm added (from the Teaser)

Galvatron's body color now closely resembles the Argosy Freightliner. Galvatron's eyes are now red rather than orange

New movie font replaces the old font

Added new details to the Crosshairs sequence; including dust particles, smoke and explosions.

Strafe is more towards a blue color than the original Super bowl spot

Check it out, after the jump.

Update: Fellow newsie TunaKaan has created a comparison image as well.

Via Transformers Dioramas on Facebook, we can share with you images of the Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Titan Guardians figures. These figures are large, simple and simply articulated. The four are Beast Hunters Optimus Prime, Prime Bumblebee, Prime Shockwave, and Beast Hunters Sharkticon Megatron.

We're not completely sure on the size - they were leaked on Hasbro's customer service website as Titan Guardians, which are 16 inches tall, however they might well end up being 6 inches tall. Time, as always, will tell.

Age of Extinction Dino Sparkers Images
Posted by News Fetcher on March 14 '14 at 03:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via Transformers Dioramas on Facebook, we can bring you a look at the official images of the Age of Extinction Dino Sparkers assortment. These are part of the "young ages" marketed segment of the line, and feature pull-back and go Dinobots with little Transformers riding on them like knights jousting in a tourney in days of old.

The idea behind this subline, according to the Hasbro Toy Fair 2014 press release, is that kids can race these toys head-on against each other, trying to knock the little rider figures off of the dinos - and the dinos also light up with real sparks as they go!

Seen here are the Drift with Slug and Optimus Prime with Grimlock sets - the announced Bumblebee with Strafe set and rumored Lockdown with "Wolf" set are not shown.

Earlier today, Transformers More Than Meets The Eye issue #27 was released. Part 10 of the crossover storyline, Dark Cybertron, may have provided us with our first taste at an upcoming Transformer toy release from Hasbro. Long time fan favorite and female Autobot Arcee debuted a new body in this issue. Her new look is strongly reminiscent of her Generation 1 body, but with a more updated feel and a darker shade of pink/almost red. Is this an indicator of the toy we'll be seeing in wave 5 this year along with Chromia? Not necessarily. But, with the way IDW's Dark Cybertron has been working in characters with toys either on the shelves or about to be released, it could be the real deal.

Take it with a huge grain of salt at the moment, but feel free to have fun and speculate on the 2005 Boards.

We've been getting a bit of buzz that three of the Transformers Classics Legends - originally released under the Reveal the Shield and Universe lines - have been re-released at US retail at Family Dollar. The three toys - Bumblebee, Starscream and Optimus Prime - are largely unchanged from their previous releases, but sport new packaging with nice large artwork of the three characters in line with the new Hasbro branding being rolled out for the 2014 toys including the Age of Extinction line.

If you missed out on these three toys last time out or if you like the new packaging style, the store to check is Family Dollar!
