Shogo Hasui on Masterpiece Line and Wheeljack
Posted by News Fetcher on February 25 '14 at 06:15 AM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
Thanks to TFW2005 boards member SydneyY for passing this along - According to a blog post by Snakas (Autobase Aichi), Takara designer Shogo Hasui gave a short interview to Figure-oh magazine about the Masterpiece line. In it, he offers a few previously-unknown and potentially interesting tidbits about the line:

- MP Wheeljack's colour scheme in vehicle mode is close to the real car, but he tried to make the robot mode's colours as close to the cartoon as possible.
- WJ's shoulder cannon can be attached to the car roof.
- WJ's Wings on the back do not require detaching when transforming.
- Thanks to Tomica (Tomy's Hot Wheels size, real vehicle base toy car series) it has become much easier to negotiate with car manufacturers. (I assume easier than when dealing with them as Takara, since Tomy has long-established connections thanks to Tomica)
- The sales of MP Lambor to Streak were excellent, and as a result, Smokescreen could have additional parts, and Wheeljack could be developed without considering re-purposing the mould.
- The first 3 real vehicle MPs were meant to be "Super Cars".

Posted by News Fetcher on February 25 '14 at 05:45 AM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
In a bit of news that is sure to make all IDW/Last Stand of the Wreckers fans happy, the previously-cancelled Mach 5 Gauntlet project has been revived by Mech Ideas! They will be creating this figure alongside their Animated line and whatever other products they may have planned.

Gauntlet is a representation of IDW/LSOTW Ironfist (or "Fisitron"), staying very true to his depiction by Nick Roche and Alex Milne. We also have some comparison pictures of the prototype, with him alongside Generations Springer and Mech Ideas Demolition Crue Geminus.

Mech Ideas' Facebook page notes that it will be available at a "lower price" than it was previously, and pre-orders will be coming soon. Keep an eye out as we bring you all the latest updates on this figure.

Check out the images after the jump then share your thoughts about this revived project in the discussion thread!

Posted by News Fetcher on February 23 '14 at 10:45 AM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Melanie Specht is a lovely lady who got a chance to work on the upcoming Michael Bay movie; Transformers: Age Of Extinction. She is an actress and her role in the movie is to be the senior executive assistant to Joshua; played by Stanley Tucci. MovieHole had the pleasure to interview her and she had this to say:

Firstly I’d like to say congratulations on landing your role in Transformers 4! Can you tell us much about the character you play in the film?
My character is Joshua’s senior executive assistant. The very talented and gracious Stanley Tucci plays Joshua. On set director Michael Bay referred to my character as the “Grande Dame”, I got a kick out of that!

"Grande Dame" in french means "Great Lady". So, the question of the hour is... Is she more than meets the eye?

Only time can tell folks. Check out the rest of her interview at MovieHole.

Gigapower Third Party Masterpiece Dinobots Snarl
Posted by News Fetcher on February 23 '14 at 02:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Dinobots - they're the new Predacons, at least in terms of the number of third party groups working on them! The latest group to throw their hat into the ring is Gigapower. They are also tackling the Masterpiece Dinobot scene, and they have unveiled a look at their first release, an unofficial Masterpiece Snarl. Check out the grey resin prototype image at left.

For those keeping score, this means there is an unofficial Masterpiece Slag / Slug coming from Fanstoys (makers of Quakewave), a Swoop coming from new group Bullsfire, Snarl from these guys, and Hasbro / Takara-Tomy have made a Grimlock.

Won't someone please give Sludge some love?

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
We can now share with you a look at the Transformers Cloud Brawn figure. Cloud Brawn is based on the unreleased Generations GDO Brawn, a First Edition Transformers Prime Bulkhead with a new head. It seems that compared to the unreleased GDO deco that Cloud Brawn has a tweaked deco which includes silver forearms and perhaps a more muted / toy accurate green.

Overall he is the same build quality as the previous release by Hasbro, tho this version does not have a roller or spike figure included. Whether or not you grab him will basically come down to if you like the deco or not. We've done up a gallery of the big guy for you, recently released at TRU stores nation wide. It is also available at site sponsor Big Bad Toy Store as a shared exclusive (and a little cheaper to boot). So, check out the full gallery below, some key shots are attached to this story. By TunaKaan from TFW2005:
I'm sure you guys remember the Revenge of The Fallen Megatron statue from Prime 1 Studios. That thing is hard to forget for movie fans. And they revealed their finished Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime and still a prototype Bumblebee at the Wonder Festival 2014 this month.

Those were the three pieces of their Museum Masterline series. And there's also a fourth product they teased months ago. And that is the Starscream statue.

And now, they just revealed on their Facebook page that, fifth and sixth products of the Masterline series will be from Transformers 4 Age of Extinction!

Who will they be? All new Optimus Prime and Bumblebee? Or maybe with a surprise, King Grimlock himself! You can discuss all about it on our boards. And stay tuned to TFW2005 as we bring you the latest news as it happens.

Transformers Cloud Starscream Toy Image
Posted by News Fetcher on February 21 '14 at 11:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
By way of the latest edition of Japanese hobby magazine Figure King, check out this image of the Transformers Cloud Starscream toy. Revealed to us earlier today, Transformers Cloud Starscream is a redeco of the Generations Doubledealer toy, which is a retooled Voyager Blitzwing.

Transformers Cloud Starscream sports a typically Starscream deco with blue forearms, red on either side of his cockpit chest and red stripes on the wings. The jet mode is a decent albeit less sleek than usual interpretation of the usual Starscream jet mode, and tank mode looks pretty fitting.

Cloud Starscream comes with two new accessories, a pair of Nul-Rays. They are in fact the same accessories from Masterpiece MP-3 Starscream, and they peg into the backs of the shoulders in robot mode, the underside of the wings for jet mode and the sides of the tank in tank mode.

For reference we've also uploaded with this story the picture of Brawn from the cross sell of the GDO Protectobot Hot Spot box. GDO Brawn is a retooled version of First Edition Transformers Prime Bulkhead, with a new head.
