30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2006
Posted by News Fetcher on April 30 '14 at 04:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Transformers Cybertron line wrapped up through 2006, but with the Transformers live action movie not arriving until the summer of 2007 and the associated toyline not being released until May 2007, Hasbro needed a filler line to fill the void. Hasbro took a cue from Takara’s Robot Masters line and introduced a short line that reimagined the classic Transformers characters in updated designs, ushering in the first Transformers Classics line. In Japan the newly merged Takara-Tomy released a short and controversial series called Transformers Kiss Players, featuring giant robots smooching girls who were drawn to look like pre-teens in the artwork. Posted by News Fetcher on April 30 '14 at 02:15 AM
By TunaKaan from TFW2005:
Transformers 4 Age of Extinction merchandising is in full swing. We revealed that Frito-Lay is doing a TF4 campaign, and now OREO started their own. They recently sent a casting call for the Transformers themed commercial they'll shoot to promote the cookies, and the upcoming movie. And now we see the next phase of the campaign, awesome displays!

This one in particular is sent by the Instagram user ganjar95. It's in Indonesian, and features the Optimus Prime render we saw on the teaser poster. But with minor changes, notice the mouth plate and the red arms?

We're only 57 days away from the movie, and from the looks of it, we should get the commercial really soon. We'll keep you updated, in the meantime, be sure to check TFW for the best news, first!

Mastermind Creations Hexatron Shadow Emissary Version
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '14 at 10:00 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Mastermind Creations have unveiled plans to release a redeco of their popular not-Sixshot, Terminus Hexatron. The teaser image, released via Weibo, refers to the new version as "Shadow Emissary". The image is a heavy photoshop, but based on what we can see and previous versions of Sixshot, we suspect this will be a black repaint modeled on one of the Lucky Draw Sixshots released in the early 2000s.

New Hasbro Trademarks Reveal Possible Upcoming Generations Toys?
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '14 at 12:31 PM
By SilverOptimus from TFW2005:
Over the past few years we've known one fact about Hasbro for sure; If they trademark a name, they have plans for it.

This newsie was curious to know what Hasbro has applied for recently and stumbled upon the following names registered just last week.

NIGHTBEAT (Trademark ID: 86261081)

OVERLOAD (Trademark ID: 86261109)

SUNSTREAKER (Trademark ID: 86261112)

ROOK (Trademark ID: 86261119)

STRONGARM (Trademark ID: 86261745)

You can click on the links above to visit United States Patent And Trademark Office and take a look at the application documents.

We currently have no idea what we'll see in the future regarding the new trademarks. But the fact that the names not registered under a Cartoon might mean it's toy only. So perhaps, Generations Toy Line?

Stay tuned with TFW2005 for the best Transformers News... first!

Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '14 at 11:31 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Fun Publications have sent out an email update concerning the Transformers Collectors Club Figure Subscription Service Series 2. The second set of figures is currently being shipped to Fun Publication's headquarters in Dallas Texas, scheduled to reach them by the end of May.

All being well, this means that the second series will begin shipping out to fans starting in the first week of June - regrettably this does potentially mean the first figure might reach a few people while they are away at Botcon over the June 19th - 22nd weekend - so be aware of this possibility.

The TCC Figure Subscription Service consists of six figures, to be sent out in a random order, and they are: Chromedome with Arms Micron Stylor, Rewind, Barricade with Arms Micron Frenzy, Treadshot with Arms Micron Catgut, Fisitron aka Ironfist and the Waspinator / Beast Machines Thrust hybrid, Thrustinator! A special mystery seventh figure will be sent out with the sixth figure to be shipped.

Who will be the first to arrive? Keep it TFW and we'll keep you updated of when these cool figure exclusives make their way into the hands of fans everywhere!

Toyworld TW-HO3 Swamper, Unofficial Headmaster Skullcruncher
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '14 at 06:30 AM
By ORIO from TFW2005:
3rd party group, Toyworld, has updated their website with new official colored images of their next release in their unofficial Headmaster releases. Revealed this evening is Swamper, an unofficial Generation 1 Skullcruncher! If this figure is on par with Toyworld's previous unofficial Headmaster releases, we're in store for a very big and beefy Decepticon crocodile. Swamper's robot mode appears to have two different chest transformations, one with the crocodile head and one without. As opposed to the original G1 release, the toy's Headmaster partner/trainer will ride in a compartment in his back as opposed to riding in his mouth.

Check out all of the images after the break!

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2005
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '14 at 04:00 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
It was the year 2005, a year shockingly not marked by people donning silver jumpsuits or driving around in flaming winnebagos. What 2005 did bring was the third of the Unicron Trilogy series, Transformers Cybertron, which premiered first in Japan as Transformers Galaxy Force. New license holders abound too, as IDW Publishing took up the reins of Transformers comics, and Fun Publications took over running the conventions, restoring the original name Botcon and even getting a Transformers Collector’s Club set up, complete with exclusive toys. In addition, the Transformers live action movie got a director in the form of Michael Bay…

By ORIO from TFW2005:
Fantastic news has been shared with us from the Pacific Northwest this evening. We have our first sighting of new Generations toys found at a United States retail store! 2005 Board member, Sportimus, reports finding the new Generations Legend two packs, Swerve with Flanker and Cosmos with Payload at his local Target store in Spokane Valley, Washington. Many fans are looking forward to this wave. Mostly because of Swerve and his popularity in the More Than Meets The Eye IDW comic book series.

Time to start hunting those Target stores! Hopefully other retailers, including online retailers, will be getting their stock in soon!

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
It's time for another gallery update, and to coincide with our coverage of the Unicron Trilogy in our 30 years of Transformers in 30 days retrospective, we have a look at the Japanese Generations Armada Starscream for you!

Armada Starscream as you might remember is a Deluxe class update of the original Transformers Armada Starscream. For the Japanese release, Takara-Tomy has sharpened up the deco and making Armada Starscream look just like his Micron Legend self. It makes the Japanese release look like a very different toy to the US version and gives him a very white looking jet mode.

Is the new deco an improvement in your eyes? Check out SydneyY's photos below and judge for yourself:

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2004
Posted by News Fetcher on April 28 '14 at 04:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
2004 was the 20th anniversary year of the Transformers and also a disastrous year for the brand. Toys were poorly distributed leading to a long period where very little new product made it to shelves, and two major licensors – Dreamwave Comics and 3H who ran the official convention – folded. On the positive side Hasbro and Takara pressed ahead with the Alternators / Binaltech line, a well-received collector-oriented line that reimagined classic Transformers are real cars with realistic detailing and interiors, and the 20th anniversary was marked with a special 20th anniversary Optimus Prime, whose production was aided by a fan poll hosted on this website! In Japan, the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime was released as Masterpiece MP-1 Convoy, kicking off the popular Masterpiece line.
