Generations 30th Anniversary Bumblebee Mold Test Images
Posted by News Fetcher on April 30 '13 at 03:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via this eBay auction we have a look at the Generations Deluxe Bumblebee toy, being released as a part of the 30th anniversary sub-series and based on his appearance in the Mike Costa ongoing series. What you see here is a mold-test prototype - a pre-production figure in whatever plastic colors were available at the time to test the mold, the fit of parts, and so forth. While no indication of the final toy, it does give a bit of an idea of what the final toy is going to be like, with a glimpse of how certain parts of the transformation will function.

Botcon, TFCC & Subscription Service Updates May 2013
Posted by News Fetcher on April 30 '13 at 03:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The TFCC and Botcon have emailed out a pair of updates, covering the status of the Subscription Service figures, the membership freebie for 2013, non-attendee (Iacon) packages for Botcon and most interesting, a carded version of said freebie to be sold at Botcon.

Read on for the full text of the updates. A quick summary of key issues covered is below:
[list][*]The first subscription service figures will ship after Botcon. The delay is given as an issue at manufacturer level, which is hoped to have been resolved so future releases come out earlier. Important - if you have changed your address / credit card details instructions to update your details are contained within.[*]The club membership figure, Depth Charge, will not ship until after Botcon as they are shipping with the subscription service figures. They have shipped from the manufacturer though and are with the packaging vendor.[*]A carded version of Depth Charge will be available to purchase once they arrive. Some will be available at Botcon but most will be available to buy through the club store.[*]More non-attendee (Iacon) sets have been made available for this year's Botcon.

Transformers Go! Ninja Team Images
Posted by News Fetcher on April 30 '13 at 04:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
A second scan from a Takara-Tomy retailer catalog, this time by way of Robot Kingdom, shows us a look at the Transformers Go! Ninja team. They are a trio of animal themed robots who can combine into three different giant robot combinations like the vehicle transformation Samurai team. They are Gekisomaru the lion, Hishomaru the phoenix and Sensuimaru the shark. Yes, Transformers Go! will give you a ninja star wielding shark for your collection!

The scans also show (in small callouts on the larger scan with the artwork) the three different combinations of both teams. One of the scans also shows what Takara-Tomy's Hunter Smokescreen will look like - he will be a pure white version of the Beast Hunters mold, without many of the extra paint details Hasbro added - in fact the picture is unclear but it looks like there isn't any red paint on him at all.

Check out these scans attached to this story.

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
An image posted on Twitter by @trafes20120505 from a Takara-Tomy product catalog has revealed the remainder of the decos of the Transformers Go! Predacons and confirmed that they are all redecos of the Hasbro Beast Hunters Predacons. The confirmed decos are:

G-07 Bakudora - redeco of Ripclaw, red wings, black and silvery-blue body. May feature a new head.
G-21 Judora - redeco of Skystalker, mostly black body with golden wings and legs.
G-08 Budora - black, red and yellow redeco of Grimwing.
G-09 Bakudora - only shown in silhouette, but the silhouette is a match to the Cyberverse Abominus combiner, confirming previous speculation that the five might be issued in Japan as a single giftset at the Voyager pricepoint.

TFcon 2013 Exclusive Roswell Profile
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '13 at 12:30 PM
By Super_Megatron from TFW2005:
ROSWELL
ALLEGIANCE: Heroic Gobits
FUNCTION: Warrior / Communications
“I am not trying to prove I am better then you, I am trying to prove I am just as good!”

Profile: Originally a beautiful humanoid, when the Terrorist Gobits nearly destroyed their planet, she was forced to take on the form of a robotic space craft to aid in the war against BIKEMURDER. As the battles raged on, she became a seasoned warrior and trusted solider, so much so that in the absence of CAPTAIN-1 and TURBOLAG, she is left to command the whole Good Gobit army. In a recent mission; ROSWELL and a skeleton crew of bots, tried to find a solution to their home world and universe being wiped out by an unknown cosmic factor; it resulted in ROSWELL having to change her robotic form to match that of the local esthetic in a strange new dimension where everything was “More Than Meets the Eye”. Thanks to the Modifier, a machine from her home universe, she has finally achieved a design, color and body that she is somewhat pleased with, but even ROSWELL feels it could be better.

Abilities: Like all other Gobits, she has the standards of robot mode flight and high powered laser based pulse blasts from her fists. Unique to her design is that in UFO mode she is capable of light speed travel. Armed with her Path Cannon she can fire a short range blast that emits small sized black holes. ROSWELL is always looking to upgrade her weaponry to keep up with the ongoing conflict.

Weaknesses: She always drives to be better and thus some of her teammates feel she pushes herself to her to the point of exhaustion. She also can be a little vain sometimes, as she used to be a very curvaceous and beautiful humanoid and is not pleased with her more current blocky robot body.

TFcon 2013 registration goes online May 1st at 9am.

Generations Metroplex New Size Comparison Images
Posted by News Fetcher on April 29 '13 at 06:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Hisashi Yuki has updated his Twitter feed with new images showing the upcoming Generations Titan Class Metroplex with other Transformers toys to hammer home just how huge this thing is going to be. The latest pair of images shows three Legion / Legends Class Transformers (Starscream and Optimus Prime from Reveal the Shield Legends Class and Beast Hunters Legion Airachnid) on Metroplex's battle station mode looking very small indeed! The second image shows off the various Generations Data Disk toys lined up along the side of the battle station mode - and impressively enough, they are only marginally larger than Metroplex's wheels! Metroplex is looking ginormous - truly a toy worthy of the first of the Citybots.

Perfect Effect has returned to their roots for their next release - the PW-01 and PW-02 Master Swords. The swords are aestheitically based on the Perfect Effect God Swords, but scaled for the Fortress / Brave / Grand Maximus toys. They lack the ability to break down into their component parts, instead featuring an optional long handle to be wielded by Omega Prime or a handguard to let them attach to the Maximus type Transformers. This news comes to you via Hobbybase.

Both of these two packs are rather cool little toys. The Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are each approximately the size of a Cyberverse Commander or Scout class toy, and are based on their IDW Comics designs - Optimus from the Mike Costa ongoing, and Bumblebee on his Robots in Disguise design, although with an Earth alternate mode. They have decent articulation for their size, though Bumblebee lacks movement in his head. Their partners, Roller and Blaze Master, are light on transformation - vehicle to robot boils down to standing them up - but they serve as fun accessories to the main 'bots in their two packs. They're effectively Targetmasters with alternate modes, Targetmaster Micromasters if you will.

Overall, these are fun toys. They are simple, but great value considering they include two figures for only slightly more than a Cyberverse Commander. The designs on them are excellent, full of detail and good articulation. Well worth picking up when they hit US retail.

Third Party Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime Trailer
Posted by News Fetcher on April 28 '13 at 11:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Some pictures of a prototype for what is claimed to be a third party unlicensed trailer for Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime have been posted on the Planet Iacon Facebook group. The images show a trailer, scaled for the Leader Class Striker Optimus Prime mold, which transforms from the usual boxy Optimus Prime trailer into a full-on weapons arch, as seen in Transformers Dark of the Moon.

No information as yet on who is making this, estimated prices or when a release can be anticipated. If and when more information becomes available, we will update you.
