Hasbro sees strong revenues overseas, poised for future growth
Posted by News Fetcher on October 21 '13 at 01:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Globe and Mail has posted a brief article about the financial fortunes of Hasbro. The headline is that strong overseas performances, an 11% rise for Hasbro International, have made up for slow performances at home; with strong growth expected in 2014 with the Transformers Age of Extinction toyline and a tie-in toyline for The Amazing Spider-Man 2; and this is expected to continue in 2015 with toylines for Star Wars Episode VII and Marvel's Avengers 2. Analysts are calling it a visible catalyst for sustained revenue growth.

TFW's Mech ideas Apex and Geminus Galleries Now Online
Posted by News Fetcher on October 20 '13 at 12:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
For our next gallery update, we would like to draw your attention to some extensive galleries of the Mech ideas Demoltion Crue - Apex and Geminus, unofficial and unlicensed versions of Generation 1 Topspin and Twin Twist.

Mech ideas are a relative newcomer on the third party scene, but their first full figure releases set the bar plenty high. Apex and Geminus share a basic body type, varying up the molding on the legs, shoulders, head and backpack to produce their unique robot and alternate modes. The designs are true to the original Jumpstarters, even if the alternate modes feel a little boxy. They are fantastic toys through and through though, with astonishing levels of poseability, excellent detail, and a good selection of accessories. There's lots of nice little touches in the designs, such as the double-jointed elbows, which make these toys for me. Best of all, unlike a lot of third party releases, they are not overly expensive - you feel like you are getting value for money with the Demolition Crue.

Our galleries for this pair are now online, over 150 pictures for each toy - check them out by opening the links below:

More Images From Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction Hong Kong Principal Photography
Posted by News Fetcher on October 20 '13 at 11:45 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
2005 Boards Member MineSky is back with some awesome photos he took during the Hong Kong Principal Photography of Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

These new photos feature not just Bumblebee, Hound and the Veyron… but also the Freightliner. Also, we now have an idea of what role the blue Kawasaki plays in the movie. The bike and its passengers (Stunt-doubles of Stanley Tucci and Li Bingbing) are being chased by the two Audi S6s we saw early.

Also, GabrielPrime is bringing us some more photos where we see actors Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci and Sophia Myles running among the crowd carrying a bag of unknown content.

The white Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ferrari F430 Spyder (thank you NotRamjet97 for identifying) are also there.

You can check out MineSky’s photos with this news post and head on over to the thread for more. Check out the previous thread for more images by Infinity.

Thank you everyone for the awesome collection of photos. Keep 'em coming... our members would love to see more.

More than Meets the Eye Thunder Clash Alex Milne Design Art
Posted by News Fetcher on October 19 '13 at 11:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Transformers artist extraordinaire Alex Milne has posted the design sketch art for Thunder Clash on his Deviant Art page. Thunder Clash features in More than Meets the Eye #22 - on sale now - and is a new take on a classic character from the 1992 line of Transformers, only released in international markets such as Europe and Canada. Alex notes that with this new take on Thunder Clash the trailer - originally a stand-alone battlestation - is incorporated into the robot mode, and that Thunder Clash himself is a big bot, around the same size as Ultra Magnus.

Head on over to Alex Milne's Deviant Art page to check out this and other artwork that he has shared.

Transformers Go! 2014 Promotional Poster with possible look at Optimus EX Prime
Posted by News Fetcher on October 19 '13 at 06:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Takara-Tomy are currently holding an exhibition for their 2014 products in Japan, and their booth has an image promoting Transformers Go! at its entrance. Japanese site 4gamer has posted this image though it's not a focus of their coverage since they are focused on video games. The image (enhanced by Snakas) shows off the core cast of Transformers Go! with Gekisomaru and Kenzan and their human allies in front of a version of Optimus Prime - while not entirely clear from this image, it is believed that this might be a look at the upcoming Transformers Go! G26 Optimus EX Prime.

Images From Transformers 4 Age Of Extinction Hong Kong Principal Photography
Posted by News Fetcher on October 19 '13 at 12:00 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Thanks to our members, we have with us some cool photos from the Hong Kong set of Transformers 4 a.k.a Transformers: Age Of Extinction.

What's so amazing is that there is huge number of SuperCars involved and a blue Kawasaki. New cars being: a couple of Audi S6, a Cadillac CTS, a white Lamborghini Gallardo, a black Ferrari and what looks as though a Bentley.

Also, stunt-doubles and cast members were spotted along with some local actors. Famous actors include Jack Reynor, Sophia Miles and Titus Welliver. Speaking of famous actors, the main cast of robots were not spotted yet (while shooting) other than the Bugatti Veyron.

Filming will go on for two weeks and it has been smooth sailing since the unfortunate incident which occurred couple of days ago. Check out the latest images with this news post.

Many thanks for the photos and info everyone. Keep 'em coming.

Transformers 4 Age of Extinction Bumblebee and Optimus Prime Dress Up Costumes
Posted by News Fetcher on October 18 '13 at 04:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
By way of TFClub's Weibo, we have what is (sort of) our first look at the new style Bumblebee in Transformers Age of Extinction! What you can see here are images from a two-sided poster inside Hasbro's 2014 catalog, which was exhibited at the Shanghai Toy Expo last week. The poster shows licensed costumes of both Optimus Prime and Bumblebee - and while branded as Transformers Prime, the Optimus Prime costume resembles the confirmed design of Age of Extinction Optimus Prime. The Bumblebee costume similarly resembles the familiar Movie series Bumblebee, particularly with the "mouth" area, though the forehead area is newly designed and the battlemask is also altered, looking more insectoid than previous.

Also of interest is that the Optimus Prime costume includes a sword and a shield like the Age of Extinction toy, suggesting these are not just random accessories for a toy but might play into the movie's story.

Of course, as dress-up sets, liberties have doubtless been taken with both designs. But check out these images for our first real teaser of the new looks of both leading robots.

Transformers Comics from IDW Publishing in January 2014
Posted by News Fetcher on October 17 '13 at 10:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Comics List has posted the solicits from IDW Publishing for January 2014. The new year brings no respite for the Autobots and Decepticons fighting against Shockwave in the Dark Cybertron event, which continues in More than Meets the Eye Issue 25 and Robots in Disguise Issue 25 - massive spoilers for these ones, read on at your peril! Regeneration One enters the final stretch in January with the publication of issue 98, and a collected edition of the series third arc. Also in January is IDW's latest event, X-Files: Conspiracy, which sees Mulder and Scully investigating, amongst other things, the Ninja Turtles, The Crow, the Ghostbusters and The Transformers! It's following the standard patten IDW has used for events like Infestation and Mars Attacks IDW with a pair of bookend stories, and crossover issues for each series. The Transformers crossover issue appears to be coming in February, but the bookend issue (and the Ghostbusters tie-in) are coming in January.

Read on for the full text of the solicits - and beware of the spoilers!

Michael Bay Explains The Transformers: Age Of Extinction Hong Kong Incident
Posted by News Fetcher on October 17 '13 at 09:31 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Director Michael Bay dropped by his site to let everyone know of the incident which took place while filming Transformers: Age Of Extinction in Hong Kong.

"Hi, it's Michael.

Yes, the story is being passed around is not all true! Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent asses to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong. On guy rolled metal carts into some of my actors trying to shake us down for thousands of dollars to not play his loud music or hit us with bricks.

Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it we were not going to let him extort us. He didn't like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That's when the security jumped on him. But it took seven big guys to subdue him. It was like a Zombie in Brad Pitt's movie World War Z—he lifted seven guys up and tried to bite them. He actually bit into one of the guards Nike shoe, insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble popped, but the toe was saved.

Then it took fifteen Hong Kong cops in riot gear to deal with these punks. In all, four guys were arrested for assaulting the officers.

After that, we had a great day shooting here in Hong Kong. The place could be better."
