Posted by News Fetcher on April 27 '13 at 09:45 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Previously, we told you about Transformers 4 Filming at Sham Shui Po. On that article a name of a new Chinese actor was mentioned. That was Huang Xiaoming.

Today, Asian Pop News is reporting a second name along with Huang Xiaoming; that is award winning Chinese actor and singer Chen Kun.

We do not know if they will indeed get a chance to be in the the next installment of the Transformers Live Action Movie Series, but the chances are a bit high judging by the celebrity status of the Chinese actors mentioned above.

Another name dropped is Tong Dawei.

Transformers 4 Texas Filming Details
Posted by News Fetcher on April 27 '13 at 07:30 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Dallas News is reporting Transformers 4 will be filmed in Texas. This is no surprise since Jack Reynor's character is a Texas racing driver. The site also reveals some tiny tidbits.

"No plot has been released for the film, but Mark Wahlberg will star along with Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz. The home of Wahlberg’s good-guy character will be a farmhouse in Pflugerville. Bay has previously said the film will take a different direction with many new actors.

The Austin Film Commission confirmed three to four weeks of filming in the small towns of Lockhart, Taylor, Elgin and Pflugerville.

A large Austin production office opened in March, but location scouting dates to November. There was initial interest in the Circuit of the Americas racetrack southeast of Austin, but instead the Austin Film Commission says the focus is on small towns that remind Bay of Robert Frank’s 1950s photos collected in the classic book The Americans.

In Taylor, 30 minutes from Austin, a police chase will close downtown and a railroad overpass, said Deby Lannen, the city’s Main Street program manager. A car will be exploded in the city’s Robinson Park. “It’s pretty exciting,” she said.

Lockhart’s Caldwell County Courthouse square will be another filming location, with Taylor and Lockhart combined into one fictional town on screen. Robots will chase down the good guys throughout Central Texas including in Elgin."

So, who’s the Police Car going to be? Prowl? Barricade? Just an ordinary Cop Car or some other Robot? You guess…

Transformers GT Series Packaging Image
Posted by News Fetcher on April 27 '13 at 06:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
By way of Cybergundam and Dengeki Hobby's June 2013 edition, we can share an image of the Transformers GT series packaging. The GT series toys - and specifically the first releases in the series, Optimus Prime and Star Saber - are packaged in a wide, square box, with the toy in vehicle mode on the left visible through a window, and artwork of the robot on the right. Between the toy and the artwork in roughly the center of the packaging is the Race Queen figure. The boxes look very nice for display, although significantly bigger than the Transformers Alternity packaging, which previous versions of these molds were packaged in.

Rumor: Generations Metroplex SDCC Version
Posted by News Fetcher on April 27 '13 at 06:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
File this one under "rumor" for now, but the Robot Kingdom preorder page for the Aga-Con Hong Kong version of Generations Metroplex makes an interesting reference that it is "expected to have SDCC style color".

We have no idea what this could mean - or indeed, what exactly SDCC style color even means - but an informed opinion is that SDCC style color might literally mean "colored like the SDCC one". If this is the correct interpretation of this reference, then it heavily implies we might be getting a special San Diego Comic Con edition of Generations 30th Anniversary Metroplex this July.

Hasbro have yet to officially announce their SDCC exclusives - when they do, we will update our main page with news on what they are.

Transformers Collectors Club Subscription Service Figures Delayed to June
Posted by News Fetcher on April 27 '13 at 06:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Word reaches us via 2005 Boards member Onslaught24 that the Transformers Subscription Service figures - first revealed at Botcon 2012, with orders taken back in September of last year - have been delayed. The new delivery date for the figures to Fun Publications is now expected to be in June. No reason is given for the delay.

It is worth considering that although no reason is given for the delay, past Botcon Q&A sessions have indicated that the Transformers Collectors Club figures - exclusives or member freebie figures - have tended to be produced alongside the Botcon figures for that year. Given the late June date for Botcon, this delay would also be consistent with the production of the Botcon figures, so this fan would venture that the delay is on a factory level.

We will of course provide an update once more information is available.

Michael Bay Talks Transformers 4 - Previous Robot Cast Redesigned, New Robots & Quitting
Posted by News Fetcher on April 26 '13 at 07:45 PM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Director Michael Bay was interviewed by Moviefone regarding his upcoming movies; Ninja Turtles and Transformers 4. Mr. Bay had lots to say; specifically how he got into the Transformers Franchise in the first place, how he’s leaving it and redesigning old and introducing new robot characters for Transformers 4.

Well it’s more about how you approach these films, like for example, on “Tranformers,” you already have the built in audience.

See, I was not a fan of Transformers [at first]. Hasbro was talking about giving me a whole Transformers story, and I’m like, “If I can do this really real. If I can make them believable, I think I could have something here.” I’m not a Hollywood guy. My friends are normal guys. I’ve got this guy from Texas. He’s like, “Mike, that “Transformers” [movie] seems like a dumb idea.” And I’m like, “Yeah, I know, but just give it a second.” And then I showed him the shot of the Scorponoks jumping out of the sand with Tyrese [Gibson] running. He saw that image and he went, “I see what you’re doing.” You’ll always have haters, but the last movie? One-hundred-twenty million people saw that movie. There’s still a lot of fans of that franchise. And I’m a huge Transformers fan now, and I protect that brand.

Yeah, because then you’re limited in what you can do and what you can show.

Yeah. You know there are a couple of historians of Transformers. I would do my designs of the robots and they’re like, “What if you just add a little bit more ears to Optimus?” But they’re really hands off. We’ve redesigned them in “Transformers 4,” and there’s some really cool sh*t in it. I’m literally redesigning every character, top to bottom. There’s a reason why they’re redesigned, but it’s also to keep it new and fresh to me. I think the fans will appreciate some of this new stuff we have in the movie and some of the new characters.

I know when you did “Transformers 3,” you were kind of done...

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was offered Mark Wahlberg's Role in Transformers 4
Posted by News Fetcher on April 26 '13 at 03:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
In a recent Twitter Q&A, Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock, also known for voicing Cliffjumper in Transformers Prime and starred in GI Joe Retaliation) revealed that he was offered a role in Transformers 4. But not any role - he was offered one of the lead roles, specifically the role that was eventually filled by Mark Wahlberg. The Rock was offered the role first, but had to turn it down due to working on Hercules. This led the way to Mark Wahlberg eventually being cast.

Would you have liked Megatron to smell what The Rock is cooking? Sound off on our 2005 Boards!

Transfomers Go! DVD Story Plot Revealed
Posted by News Fetcher on April 26 '13 at 03:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Hydra of the Allspark has posted up some more information on the plot of Transformers Go! The series is being set up as a sequel to Beast Hunters' main plotline (though how much it will reflect the actual ending is anyone's guess). The base premise is that Predaking / Dragotron has been defeated and the majority of the bad guys have fled into space, prompting Team Prime to pursue - but there are still some scattered enemies on Earth, so Optimus Prime entrusts the mission of hunting them down to six Autobots...

It very much reflects many "sequel / side story" plots told over the years, both in Transformers and elsewhere. How much it will fit with established continuity is anyone's guess.

Hydra's full post can be viewed at the link above, or reproduced after the jump for convenience. Caution - the post references how Predaking is defeated in the backstory which may in turn spoil part of the ending of the series.

We've had a few looks at this image already so please excuse this third post about the official imagery of Beast Hunters Sharkticon Megatron. Here for you now is a clear, good resolution official image of the new Megatron, showing off his look most clearly. Of interest is that he seems to have a unique faction symbol - possibly something or nothing, but worth mentioning for those curious.

Transformers Go! Toy Promotion Video
Posted by News Fetcher on April 26 '13 at 04:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Takara-Tomy Youtube Channel has updated with a video showcasing the Transformers Go! toyline. The initial eight releases in the series, out shortly in Japan, are all showcased along with the new, Japan only backstory which seems to involve Predacons (five silhouettes are shown) being sealed inside objects reminiscent of the Fall of Cybertron Data Disks. It is a quirky alternate story for the line, and seems to play into the super-robot direction that the Japan exclusive releases such as the Samurai and Ninja teams are moving in.

Beast Hunters Sharkticon Megatron Higher Res Image
Posted by News Fetcher on April 25 '13 at 02:00 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
A new scan from Previews gives us a closer look at the Beast Hunters "Sharkticon" Megatron. The new image uses the typical Hasbro "photoshop" images that aren't the best gauge of the final product, but it looks like this Megatron will be an interesting blend of black, blue and pinkish-purple. The alternate mode sports a look that resembles some kind of hellish sea creature, with the arm fins sticking up at the rear and a toothy maw up front. Interestingly Megatron sports a blue face rather than his usual silver one - your mileage may vary on if this is plain awesome or unappealing.

By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via Snakas we can share with you a low-res composite of official images of the Platinum Series Transformers Prime Ultra Magnus. Optimus Prime's right-hand bot is here a redeco of the Weaponizer Optimus Prime with a new Forge of Solus Prime accessory. What this image shows off are both the modes - seen at Toy Fair 2013 - along with the inside of the packaging flap, which we have not seen previously.

Check it out and see what you think.

Masterpiece Prowl and Bluestreak Release Delay
Posted by News Fetcher on April 25 '13 at 10:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Word has reached us that several retailers on both sides of the Pacific are reporting delays to the next releases in the Transformers Masterpiece line. Masterpiece Prowl and Masterpiece Streak (aka Bluestreak / Silverstreak) have each been delayed, Prowl to September and Streak to October.

There is no word on Smokescreen, the third of the Datsun trio. He was intended to release after Prowl and Streak though so we'd expect him to be delayed as well.
