Jeff Kline Confirms The Next Transformers Series Is In Production
Posted by News Fetcher on January 29 '14 at 12:00 PM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Producer Jeff Kline spoke to Keep Me Current, to let us in on the fact that the next Transformers Animated Series is in production.

"Q: Of everything you’ve done, and everything you could do, why comic books?
A: Well, I’ve been almost five years going back and forth between the coasts. I’d like to live here more full-time. But it’s really hard to run a show from 3,000 miles away and, for the time being anyway, it seems like it’s going to be a hard time to get the networks to let me run an animated series out of Portland. I do still have a development deal with Hasbro. I have another “Transformers” series coming; that’s in full-blown production right now. I have a documentary I executive-produced that’s coming out this year, as well as other TV and movie projects, but I’ve been looking for something I can do from here. With comic books, you don’t have to be on a studio lot. It’s a lot of working with freelancers who can be anywhere in the country. It’s a business that’s very used to happening not in person. So, it’s a good business to start from my home in Cape Elizabeth."

Masterpiece MP-20 Wheeljack - Missile Launcher Shown by Shogo Hasui
Posted by News Fetcher on January 29 '14 at 12:00 AM
By Superquad7 from TFW2005:
Shogo Hasui, the current lead designer of the TakaraTomy Masterpiece Transformers line, recently updated his Twitter feed with the image mirrored here showing off the upcoming the missile launcher from Masterpiece Wheeljack MP-20. A Google translation of the tweet text gives us a little more information about the the launcher:
Quote:
"Magnet gun of the right shoulder of the MP-20 foil Jack is supposed to be able to give them some elevation, pulling out the missile part.
It is a gimmick that can be used to reproduce such as Episode 15 of "The Rise of Atlantis!".
The missile is at least detachable from the launcher, and the missile can be pulled out. However, there's no indication of anything further as to whether or not it has a feature to launch it by way of any sort of trigger. Either way, it's still really exciting to see more and more of this anticipated release!

Transformers 4 Age of Extinction First Edition Optimus Prime Size Comparison
Posted by News Fetcher on January 28 '14 at 06:00 AM
By Mechafire from TFW2005:
It was only a few days ago that we brought you the news of Amazon listing a First Edition Transformers: Age of Extinction Optimus Prime figure. Many of us had speculated that this particular mold was a Voyager.

Looks like we were dead wrong. Thanks to TFW2005 member Niv3k, we have a size comparison image of the figure standing alongside MP-10 Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Leader class Optimus Prime. As we can see here... he's HUGE. As in, he's Leader-sized. He actually appears to be slightly bigger than ROTF Leader Prime.

The listing on Amazon is no longer up, although it should come back soon. The figure's large size should go a long way towards justifying its $60 price.

However, this does, of course, raise a few questions. If this one is actually Leader-sized, then what does it mean for the NYCC Prime, which was reportedly a Leader figure as well? Are there TWO Leader Primes in this line? Was the NYCC one simply mislabeled, and is actually a Voyager? It HAS been reported that the NYCC Prime was rather small for a Voyager, so...

Speculate away in the discussion thread!

Transformers Generation 1 Cartoon 30th Anniversary DVD Release
Posted by News Fetcher on January 27 '14 at 02:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Shout! Factory have put up listings for a new DVD release of the original Transformers Generation 1 cartoon series. The packaging art looks largely the same as the previous releases - just with a "thrilling thirty" logo on the packaging - so expect these to be the same as their last release, just reissued in time for the 30th anniversary. They are due for release on 4/29/14, so they will be right on time to celebrate the anniversary! Check out the order pages on Shout's website:

Simon Furman on Transformers Regeneration 1 issue 98
Posted by News Fetcher on January 27 '14 at 02:30 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Simon Furman has posted some notes on his blog regarding next week's new issue of Transformers Regeneration 1, issue #98. Without spoiling anything, he teases a lot of the developments in the issue - including that by the time you are finished reading, "this issue should leave no one in any doubt about [Jhiaxus'] lofty niche in the pantheon of Transformers villainy". Sounds like we might learn a bit more about the goals of Jhiaxus in this series!

Check out Simon's thoughts here.

That's not all though, because artist Stephen Baskerville has also shared a piece of art - featuring "affirmative action" Rodimus Prime - on his Facebook page. Be sure to check it out as well as we get ready for issue #98 of the final arc of this conclusion of the original Marvel Comics Generation 1 story!

Planet X to make Six Not-Dinobots - Including Paddles!
Posted by News Fetcher on January 27 '14 at 02:00 PM
By Secretcode from TFW2005:
Third Party group Planet X has confirmed on their Facebook page that they are currently working on making all SIX of the Dinobots, revealing that there will be five more upcoming Dinobot releases alongside their recently released Project X Caelus, revealing art of the six Dinobots from Fall of Cybertron as a teaser.

This announcement reveals they are not only working on making their own interpretation of Fall of Cybertron Grimlock, but are working on Snarl, Slag/Slug/Slog, Sludge and a plesiosaur Dinobot who may or may not be based on Paddles! For those who don't know, Paddles originates from a chapter in the 2004 iBooks release named Transformers Legends in which the gentle Dinobot is dug up from the ground some time after being left for dead by the other Dinobots after Decepticons attacked Dinobot Island.

Between Planet X's new reveal and the inclusion of the Dinobots in the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction film and toyline, it has become clear that 2014 is the beginning of the Year of the Dinobot! Stick with TFW2005 as we bring you the latest news as it happens.
