Takara-Tomy Generations Gold Bumblebee, Hoist and Trailcutter Updated Images
Posted by News Fetcher on July 10 '13 at 05:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
New, clearer, unwatermarked photos of Takara-Tomy's Generations Gold Bumblebee and Hoist & Trailcutter two-pack have been released online. These new images confirm that Bumblebee will not feature the remolded Goldfire head but just the Bumblebee head with a blue helmet. These images also confirm that Gold Bumblebee will only feature some metallic gold paint applications rather than being all metallic gold. Hoist and Trailcutter remain sharp looking decos of a pair of cool toys.

Generation 1 Unreleased Chrome Seeker Prototypes
Posted by News Fetcher on July 09 '13 at 12:15 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Spacebridge has shared a look at some more truly rare unreleased Transformers memorabilia on Facebook. This time out he has given us a rare glimpse at metallic chrome versions of four different takes on the Generation 1 Seeker mold. These Seekers, which were never released, were produced by Takara for Hasbro to use as competition prizes. It is hard to pin down the exact time period these date from, but they must be post 2003 due to the Starscream using the Transformers Collection series tooling which included the additional Megatron gun accessory.

Not a bootleg, fake or "lunchtime special" These toys were made as samples by Takara for Hasbro. They would then be offered as exclusives or prizes to retailers if they wanted to run a promotion. So if Wal*Mart wanted to run a Transformers competition these would be offered to them by Hasbro as a possible prize. Most likely not used as Japanese size missiles so "unsafe" in the United States. These are original Hasbro internal pictures.

Check out The Spacebridge's Facebook page for more looks at weird and wonderful unreleased Transformers items!

Beast Hunters Predacons Rising Deluxes Released at US Retail
Posted by News Fetcher on July 09 '13 at 11:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Here's a shocker nobody was expecting this side of August! The Target exclusive Transformers Prime Beast Hunters subseries, Predacons Rising, has already begun to arrive on shelves with the first sightings of the Deluxe assortment reported in San Jose, CA. Sky Lynx, one of the two Deluxes in the set (the other is a Nova Blast Bumblebee) was found on Target store shelves by 2005 Boards member Deltagod.

How long will it be before the other cool Predacons Rising exclusives get released? For those hunting, these DCPI numbers might prove useful:

Predacons Rising Deluxes - 087 06 2427
Predacons Rising Voyagers - 087 06 2428
Predacons Rising Cyberverse Commander two-pack - 087 06 2430

Educated guesses put the Legion two-packs as DCPI 087 06 2429. Big thanks to JamesBenjamin and x BlackMagnus x for compiling these.

Hasbro Buys Majority Stake in iOs Game Maker Backflip Studios
Posted by News Fetcher on July 08 '13 at 05:00 PM
By Tony_Bacala from TFW2005:
In an odd coincidence with our last story, Hasbro purchased a majority stake in iOs game maker Backflip Studios. The company is known for mobile games such as Dragonvale and Ragdoll Blaster.

From their statement:
Quote:
We are thrilled to announce today that we are selling a majority stake in Backflip Studios to Hasbro. The company will stay in Boulder, CO and will continue to be run by the current management team. In addition to producing original new titles and updating popular favorites, we will now have access to Hasbro’s catalog of well-known brands for future mobile development. We will proceed with our long held strategy of building a large and active network of satisfied users through compelling gameplay.

Looks like Hasbro is jumping in the video game arena and bringing this key sector somewhat in-house. Let's hope more awesome Transformers, G.I. Joe and other boys brands games make it our way soon.

Rumor - Gregg Berger to Voice Rumored Dinobot in Transformers 4?
Posted by News Fetcher on July 08 '13 at 11:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
This is a bit of news to chalk up in the rumor column - it could be something or nothing might come of it, so we invite you to adopt the appropriate scepticism.

Over the past weekend the voice of Generation 1 Grimlock, Gregg Berger, was in attendance at the Florida Supercon. During his panel, 2005 Boards member Citricon asked Mr Berger the question of "If Michael Bay or Paramount or Universal came to you, and asked you to voice Grimlock in the upcoming movie, would you do it or no?"

After a brief pause - and cracking a joke about how Grimlock would have made the previous movies a lot shorter - Gregg responded with "I will bring justice to the character, you'll see"

This could be something or nothing - however, a rusty cab-over-engine truck spotted on the set of Transformers 4 has been rumored to be a Dinobot, and a rumored character list included Grimlock as a potential Transformers 4 cast addition. Signs certainly point to the possibility of their being a Grimlock in the next movie for Gregg to voice - and it is not unheard of for the live action movies to cast the original cartoon's voice talent to voice their live-action movie counterpart.

Generations Japan Gold Bumblebee and Hoist & Trailcutter Two Pack New Images
Posted by News Fetcher on July 08 '13 at 10:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Via our sponsors TFSource we can bring you new Takara-Tomy publicity images of the Transformers Generations Japan TG26 Gold Bumblebee and TG27 Hoist and Trailcutter set. Gold Bumblebee presently looks a bit more yellow than the shiny gold we were expecting, but the coloration is all there right down to the blue head for a possible "Goldbug" from Takara-Tomy. Some shiny elements are identifiable, but given the watermarks these could still be "in-progress" images. There are also new images of the Hoist and Trailcutter set - both mold variants in one two pack - and Hoist notably looks a little more muted in these images than in Hasbro's own publicity images.

Another Potential Transformers Collectors Club / Botcon Seeker Red Wing
Posted by News Fetcher on July 08 '13 at 10:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Botcon Twitter account has released artwork of a fourth new Seeker deco, which was featured in the Transformers Timelines Machine Wars Termination comic with this year's convention boxed set. This background character, named "Red Wing" is significant for two reasons, one of them being that Brian Savage hinted at the TFCC Roundtable that more Seekers using the Classics Seeker mold are not off the table. The other reason is that this artwork uses the same basic linework as Sunstorm, Bitstream and Hotlink - so this coloration could have been considered as a possible deco for one of the Rainmakers at one point, possibly as a backup in case the Bitstream deco came out too close to Thundercracker.

In any event, all that Botcon is saying about this is it is the artwork for the fourth Seeker featured in this year's convention comic. Whether or not it actually gets a toy, only time will tell.

Once again via eBay seller lena81822 we have a look at a new Generations Deluxe Class toy. This time it is the turn of Thundercracker who is a part of Generations Deluxe Wave 6 (IDW comic pack-in series Wave 2). He uses the Fall of Cybertron Starscream mold and rounds out the Seeker trio from this mold - though Hasbro will release their own Skywarp in Wave 8 for those who have not imported Takara-Tomy's one.
