Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave First Image
Posted by News Fetcher on February 08 '13 at 12:45 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
vic2993 via Planet Iacon on Facebook has shared something awesome with us. He has shared our first look at the toy for Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave! The image is small, but comes from a Hasbro catalog. It indicates Shockwave will come with two gimmicks - a spinning Hyperflux Cannon, which is his gun arm. It appears to close up for a more show accuate look. The second gimmick is advertised as snap-on Beast Armor - in other words like Beast Hunters Smokescreen, Shockwave will have the option of shedding his Beast Hunters spikes to look more like his on-screen appearances so far.

A vehicle mode is also seen, Shockwave appears to transform into a tank or artillary unit of some description.

Hopefully this is one toy we can see more of at the US Toy Fair 2013 this weekend along with all the other upcoming good stuff.

Visual Effects Supervisor Jeff White Returning For Transformers 4 CGI
Posted by News Fetcher on February 07 '13 at 05:00 PM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
At an interview by Collider Visual Effects Supervisor Jeff White stated that he is returning for CGI of Transformers 4.

White served as Digital Production Supervisor on Transformers, and then was elevated to Association Visual Effects Supervisor on the subsequent sequels Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon.

Does it feel the same way with Transformers?
Oh, yeah! We thought Transformers 1 was the hardest thing we’d ever done, and then we did Transformers 2. And then, Transformers 3 came and Michael [Bay] came up with this sequence where the building is falling over and they’re inside of it. He said he came up with it while he was doing stomach crunches. But, it’s great! We don’t want to do the work that we’ve done before. We love trying to figure out the problems and create imagery that people haven’t seen before.

You also did that with Transformers: The Ride.
Yeah, it’s really fun! I just went on it about a month ago, now that it’s opened in Los Angeles, and it’s nice ‘cause I finally had had a little separation from it. It ended up being about a two-year process to create it. To then go on it with people who had never been involved, everybody screams at the same place. It was a lot of fun. Typically, you’ve got a movie theater screen and, even if it’s 3D, you’re bound by a frame. All of a sudden, we had no borders, so we could do a lot of fun things in 3D with that. The beauty of it is that you sit in a car with 11 other people and you get that immediate feedback. It’s funny, they took us up in the rafters and it’s literally like the car drives in, everybody screams, and then the car drives out, every time. It’s cool to see that it has the desired effect.

Where do you go from here? What are you working on next?
I’m starting pre-production on Transformers 4, which has some really exciting stuff in it. And then, we’ll see what the future holds. Certainly, if the opportunity came to work on the next Avengers, I’d definitely jump at it.

Botcon 2013 Hoist Official Robot and Alternate Mode Images
Posted by News Fetcher on February 06 '13 at 01:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
The Transformers Collector's Club has begun to update the Botcon 2013 site with previews of the toys in this year's convention box set, and they are kicking off with a full look at the previously seen Hoist. Updated on the Botcon site now are robot and alternate mode pictures of Hoist, a retooled version of Generations Kup with a new head. Of note in the alternate mode are the yellow and red stripes running along the vehicle mode for a particularly dynamic effect and the "W&S Towing" detail at the rear of the vehicle, thought to reference "Witwicky and Son" and pay homage to the original Hoist's role as a tow truck (not to mention his original Machine Wars self also having been a tow truck)

Check out the pictures on Botcon.com, and keep an eye on that site or the frontpage right here at TFW for more convention news!

Reports are also coming in that the new Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion Wave 1 has made its debut at US retail. The four figure assortment features Bumblebee, Smokescreen, Airachnid and Twinstrike (aka Sinnertwin). They're popping up at Wal-Marts in Porter Ranch and San Diego, CA.

With this wave's release all the Beast Hunters toys that were revealed to us at the New York Comic Con last November have been released. What's up next? We've had a few hints here and there, but the full story will be revealed at the US Toy Fair kicking off this weekend - and we will have all the Transformers toy reveals as they happen. So keep it TFW for your US Toy Fair 2013 news.

By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
TransformersAsia has posted an interview with TakaraTomy Asia Regional Customer Strategy & Marketing Director David Chua. The interview explains the process for Asian Region Exclusives and hints "something big" is heading towards Asian Region Transformers Fans.

Below are some of the highlights:

Hi David , for the past several years, we have seen some spectacular Transformers items called " Asia Exclusive " , can you tell us what is this project all about? , and how did you come up with the plan ?
Our goal is fulfilling the dream of Transformers fans. Transformers fans are very professional and their taste is sophisticated. We always challenge ourselves to make the ultimate toys which they would want to own and proudly display. Our ideas always come from the feedback of fans, we would discuss and work closely with our partner at Takara Tomy to work out the plan.

How do you select on which series or character to be including in the project?
There is no exact formula on this topic. We would consider the popularity of series/character, also the room for product improvement.

Last but not least, can you share with us what is currently in planning, and what are we expecting to see?
We are not going to give it away for now, but we promise something big would happen in the near future. So stay tuned!
