Our fellow fans over at
the Allspark have shared some translated details of the Transformers United EX line which was originally published in the latest Figure King magazine. The translation gives the overarching backstory for the line, a couple of new subgroups, and lastly also details the basic bios of the first two "Prime Mode" sets,
Combat Master and
Jet Master.
The backstory goes that the war between the Autobots and Decepticons has once again shifted into outer space leaving the Earth in relative peace. The Autobots, working with Professor Chase (aka Chip Chase from the Generation 1 cartoon series) develop a new system where they can use Power Core Combination to merge with teams of four drones. The Autobots with this capability become known as "Master Class", but the Decepticons form their own covert counter-ops team with the same abilities, named "Master Chaos".
Essentially it is a fleshing out of the basic premise of the Power Core Combiners line, as well as shifting the backstory from a pseudo-Movie universe continuity into a fully Generation 1 incorporated continuity. According to a further post by
Hydra on the Allspark, it takes place very late in Japanese Generation 1 continuity, with the character names being codenames - i.e. Jet Master is not the character's actual identity but a codename to conceal who he really is, due to the classified nature of the project.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation has an auction running on Ebay at the moment for something rather cool - a poster showcasing the Transformers Prime cast, signed by the 12 main voice actors from the series. It's an extremely limited edition piece, with less than 25 made, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.
The poster is signed by Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Steve Blum, Jeffrey Combs, Sumalee Montano, Kevin Michael Richardson, Daran Norris, Tony Todd, Tania Gunadi, Josh Keaton, Andy Pessoa and a mystery 12th person whose character has yet to debut on the show.

The Transformers Collectors Club have released a couple of new pictures of their Subscription Service Scourge figure on
Twitter. One of the two pictures shows a nice closeup on Scourge brandishing his Sword of Fury in a recreation of one of his iconic poses from Robots in Disguise. The second picture is a comparison with the other two recent uses of the mold, the Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Optimus Prime and Shattered Glass Ultra Magnus. The picture gives you an idea of how the paint applications have been varied up a bit to give this iteration of the mold a new, fresh feeling.
You've got until 12 September to get your subscription in for this figure and the other five in the Subscription Service set (Animated Jackpot, Prime Slipstream, Classics Breakdown, Classics Circuit and Beast Wars Ultra Mammoth are the other five). Find out more at the
Transformers Collectors Club homepage.

There's been some buzz around lately - with auctions for purported leaked toys on Taobao and assumed early releases - that Takara-Tomy was revisiting Transformers Henkei one more time to release the Classics Ultra Magnus for its market complete with full white legs like the Generation 1 toy. The more skeptical of us were, well, skeptical.
Here's the reality though. Transformers Henkei Ultra Magnus is for real. It's coming out as a new Asia exclusive release, due out late September / early October 2012 - in other words, it's not a revival of the Henkei line by Takara-Tomy but an Asian market exclusive, like a growing number of items recently.
If you would like a Generation 1 accurate version of Classics Ultra Magnus,
it's up for preorder now at Robot Kingdom.

To finish up the week, we're bringing you a gallery of the
Transformers Prime Arms Micron Terrorcon Bumblebee figure. Terrorcon Bumblebee here was an Aeon stores exclusive in Japan and by accounts a relatively harder to find Japanese store exclusive owing to the smaller numbers of stores compared to Toys R Us Japan. He's a fantastic black redeco of Bumblebee who looks great with or without his stickers. The head sculpt looks particularly great in this deco with the black and the purple eyes giving the toy a really evil feel. He also comes with a different Micron to the initial release, Terrorcon Zori, a clear purple version of Soundwave's Arms Micron partner. It's a cool addition and I like the clear purple, though the size of the tentacle whip mode is a bit cumbersome in my view.
All in all, Terrorcon Bumblebee is a very cool little recolor. The black deco looks extremely sharp, and the inclusion of a new Arms Micron sets him apart from the first version. He's only a straight redeco of the regular Bumblebee though, so all the pros and cons of that toy carry over to this exclusive version.
That's enough out of me though, open the link below and check out the gallery!

And now for something completely different.
Earlier this month,
we ran a story about a promotion that High Moon Studios and Ford Australia ran on their Facebook page, asking fans to help create the first Australian-created Transformer.
And now, the result of the promotion has been revealed, via the gaming website
Player Attack, with art of the Australian Autobot known as Falcatron, who turns into a Cybertron-inspired Falcon XR6 Turbo Sedan. As announced and confirmed in the prior news story, this will be only a piece of concept art and there no plans to add this to the game through DLC.
