Transformers Exiles Book Out Today
Posted by News Fetcher on October 04 '11 at 11:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Transformers Exiles, the second book by author Alex Irvine chronicling the early days of the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, is out today! This book is the sequel to Transformers Exodus, which laid the groundwork for the new aligned continuity origin of Transformers Prime. Transformers Exiles carries on the saga, and promises to delve deeper into the mysteries of the original 13 Transformers, including Nexus, Solus and Vector Prime.

The epic battles between Optimus Prime and Megatron have long thrilled Transformers fans. But these two giants weren’t always great leaders and bitter foes. This new novel continues the electrifying saga that started with Transformers: Exodus, unveiling the origins of the conflict—the explosive events that unfolded before Optimus and Megatron arrived Earthside, forever altering the destiny of their kind.

Once allies, Optimus and Megatron are now enemies in a civil war. To prevent Cybertron from falling into Megatron’s hands, Optimus jettisons the planet’s heart, the AllSpark, into space, then sets out to find it with Megatron hot on his heels. Optimus is determined to defeat Megatron, bring the AllSpark home, and restore Cybertron to its former glory.

But a saboteur lurks aboard Optimus’s spaceship, and ahead lie lost colonies, some of them hostile. Optimus needs help of the highest caliber, but from whom? Heroes such as Solus, Nexus, and Vector Prime are just names from make-believe stories of long ago. Or are they? Maybe it’s time for Optimus Prime to find out. Maybe it’s the only chance he has to vanquish mighty Megatron.

Tomica Dark of the Moon Truck
Posted by News Fetcher on October 04 '11 at 05:00 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
A recent exclusive item for Tomica shareholders was this cool Transformers Dark of the Moon themed Tomica truck. Rather than being based on an existing character, it's a truck advertising Transformers Dark of the Moon, with the logo on the air vane and on the sides, with a picture of Optimus Prime himself. It's rather cool in a 1970's Corgi Marvel Comics Truck kind of way.

Read on and check out the image, coming to you via this recent Yahoo Japan Auction.

First Hasbro NYCC Exclusives Shown!
Posted by News Fetcher on October 03 '11 at 11:15 PM
By Superquad7 from TFW2005:
There is a lot of buzz about the New York Comic Convention coming up, especially in regards to Hasbro's involvement, both as being a newcomer to the convention as well as being a sponsor of the convention itself. Much speculation continues as to just exactly what Hasbro will unveil as well.

Tonight, we get our first glimpse into to some offerings from Hasbro with some exclusives offered at the convention. The first thing shown are two cups from the game Cuponk Hasbro introduced last year. The cups offered at the convention feature the classic Generation One characters none other than Optimus Prime and Megatron. You can view both of them by checking out the attached image after the jump.

While San Diego Comic Con offered an Optimus Prime-themed NERF blaster, Hasbro follows suit with another such blaster (labeled as the "NERF N-Strike Barricade RV-10 Blaster"), this time featuring the fan-favorite Bumblebee!

Also, much like SDCC, if you find yourself wanting these exclusives but can't make it to the convention, Hasbro will be offering a limited quantity of the exclusives at HasbroToyShop.com the week of October 17.

TFW2005 Board Member Meet Up Reminder
Posted by News Fetcher on October 03 '11 at 03:45 PM
By DESTRO from TFW2005:
In just a few short days TFW2005 will be holding it's first ever official "Member Meet Up" on October 8th, 2011 (that isn't attached to a Botcon, that is :)). This will be on a Saturday night, the night before New Jersey Collectors Con in south New Jersey. It will take place at RED HOT & BLUE and starts at 8 PM. It is free for everyone, adults over 21 only (it is a bar). A live Blues band will be playing, the place serves food and it is a full service bar.

There will be door prizes given away throughout the night as well, in both Transformers and G.I. Joe flavors. Speaking of Joe, this isn't just for TFW2005, but the whole 2005 family, so HissTank and Toyark regulars will be in attendance too.

Also running during the party, for those that want to float around while drinking, will be the V.I.P. screening of a new G.I. Joe fan film, "Operation Retrieval". It will be on continuous loop all night in an area where you can hear it. You can see a trailer for it after the break.

So, if you are in the New York, New Jersey, Philly areas, try and come down the night before NJCC and hang out with the TFW2005 crew. It would be great to put faces to all those names! If it works out, we'll do more!

New Jersey Collectors Con takes place the next day, Sunday October 9th, 2011, in Cherry Hill New Jersey. Check the website for details.

See you all there!

Maketoys Giant, Hover and Bomber Updates - Fallen too?
Posted by News Fetcher on October 03 '11 at 01:45 PM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Following on from our fresh look at the Maketoy Tanker Trailer earlier, Maketoy have updated their website with new images of Giant, including a clear look at the first of the six Giant members. Details on pricing, release and colors for Giant have been revealed.

The six tall smaller robots who make up Giant will be sold in packs of two, retailing for 10'500 yen. That works out at about $136 based on the current exchange rate. The first set of two is due out in December, with more releases to follow in January and February. A giftset containing all six releases is set for a February release, priced at 31'500 yen or $410.

The only kicker though - it'll be a yellow version, not the traditional Constructicon green. So for the moment Giant is going to be a Generation 2 unofficial Devastator.

Details have also been released for the Bomber and Hover mini robots, these are also confirmed to be in a pack of two and are slated for October. They are sized at 8cm tall and priced at 3'150 yen, or a little over $40.

Click on the link above for the original source and to check out the new Giant images. Note also the strange, Fallen-esque looking guy chilling in the back of the group shot. Hmmmm...

A new feature is also revealed - a shot of the back of the robot shows a cable running from a backpack into the clear red sword - could this release have a light-up sword in the style of the original Laser Optimus Prime?

Click on the link above to check out the images. The page also gives a prospective price of 7,999 yen - about $100 at current exchange rates - and a potential release date of November. Take this with a pinch of salt of course - release dates can slip, and the price might not be finalized yet.

All last week we shared with you Transformers Galleries counting down to the release of Transformers Dark of the Moon on DVD & Blu-Ray. Well, we had so much fun doing it, we've got one more gallery to share with you. Call it a "bonus feature" on the DVD if you like.

Taken by 2005 Boards Photo Staff member SydneyY, these images show off Dark of the Moon Skyhammer - a non-Movie Voyager character who transforms from a powerful robot into an attack helicopter. He's one of the best of the Dark of the Moon Voyagers, so I hope that you enjoy these pictures.

TakaraTomy Dark of the Moon Wave 6 & Campaign Items Released, Future Releases
Posted by News Fetcher on October 01 '11 at 09:15 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
We've got a selection of news bits from Japan courtesy of Masabon today, as today is the release day for Takara-Tomy's sixth wave of Dark of the Moon toys!

First up, in hand images of the Japanese version of Human Alliance Leadfoot, who lacks the sponsor details - not just the Target logos, but all the rest, too, right down to the numbers on the doors.

Today also sees the release of the new Takara-Tomy Dark of the Moon MechTech campaign. Three items were released:

Starscream's Null Ray Sword, limited to 6'000 pieces, was available at Toys R Us Japan
Bumblebee's Plasma Blaster Cannon was available at Yodobashi Camera.
Barricade's MechTech gatling claw was available at Bic Camera (not pictured)

All three were apparently limited to 20 pieces per store, available with a purchase of 3000 yen or more on Transformers Dark of the Moon merchandise. They all sport that sharp looking black and silver deco, too.

Lastly the new releases include a catalog, which gives some future release dates for upcoming toys, include Wheeljack and Soundwave!

>November
DD-09 Human Alliance Soundwave 6300yen
DA-28 Striker Optimus Prime 9240yen
DA-33 Seeker Air Raid (Hasbro's Air Raid) 2730yen
DA-34 Deluxe Leadfoot 2730yen
CV-26 Cyberverse Soundwave 714yen

>December
DD-13 Deluxe Soundwave 2730yen
DA-31 Autobot Que 2730yen

Yes, you read that correctly - in Japan, he's going to be called Que, not Wheeljack! Could this be clearing the way to call the alternate head version Wheeljack later on, or merely keeping in step with the movie's dialogue?
