Transformers Chosen As One Of The All-Time 100 Greatest Toys By Time Magazine
Posted by News Fetcher on February 17 '11 at 09:45 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
"Transformers" has made it to the Time Magazine’s All-Time 100 Greatest Toys list, today.

"It wasn't tough to be excited about Transformers as a kid in the 1980s. Magical alien machines that could be reassembled to assume the identities of everyday automobiles, they were adapted by Hasbro from a pair of Japanese toys from Takara: the Diaclones and the New Microman. With a slight redesign and a new story line, Transformers hit the American shores in 1984."

Transformers is not alone. Hasbro’s My Little Pony and G. I. Joe also made it to the 100 most influential toys from 1923 to the present.

Check out the full list at Time.com.

Congratulations Transformers!

P.S -It's Michael Bay and Garry Chalk's birthday as well. Happy Birthday!

Botcon 2011 - Motormaster's Crew has six members?
Posted by News Fetcher on February 16 '11 at 05:30 AM
By Sol Fury from TFW2005:
Here's some interesting thoughts for the day ahead, courtesy of Derrick Wyatt and Botcon's Twitter feeds:

Botcon tweeted -

Just to be CRYSTAL clear. There are ONLY 5 Stunticons. This isn't TMNT. Well, okay, it is cause there is a femme, but we don't add/subtract.

And Derrick Wyatt later posted a clarification -

@BotCon Technically there are SIX members in Motormaster's Stunt Convoy. I suppose if they are all truly Stunticons or not is debatable.

The clue here seems to be that there may be SIX figures in the Botcon 2011 Box set (possibly because of the fact that the set is mostly Deluxe class toys so far?) The sixth member however will not be a Stunticon, but will be a member of Motormaster's team.

(My personal guess is it's the little black car that makes up Generation 1 Menasor's chest rendered in Transformers Animated style)

Posted by News Fetcher on February 15 '11 at 09:30 AM

The Botcon Twitter has updated with the reveal of Botcon 2011 Wildrider... sort of.

Thurs Stunticon reveal. Wildrider. Mold. LOCKDOWN. Amazing NEW head design by @DerrickJWyatt. That plus color scheme makes him look tot dif.

So while we do not know what Wildrider will look like (yet!) we do know that he'll be a remold of Lockdown with a new head and new colors to make him his own toy. Will the hands be remolded as well to fix the annoying issue from every other release of Lockdown, though? Will he come with the hook, or the chainsaw attachments? Check back on Thursday this week when Wildrider is unveiled to find out!

Update - Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Video Game Poster And Shockwave Render
Posted by News Fetcher on February 15 '11 at 08:00 AM
By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
After their press announcement, Activision has updated the game Facebook Page with what is likely to be the Official Poster for the Transformers: Dark of the Moon Video Game.

Shockwave is featured on the poster and it is said that he is the main villain of the third (and what is considered as the final) Michael Bay Transformers movie.

The game will act as a prequel to the movie rather than an adaptation of the movie’s story, unlike previous movie games. Developed by High Moon Studios who created War For Cybertron, the game is slated to release in June 14th, 2011.

Update: Thanks to Activision’s Transformers YouTube Channel and TFW2005 Staff Member Liselotte, we now have a good look at Transformers: Dark of the Moon Video Game Shockwave Render.

By Kickback from TFW2005:
We've been sitting on this story all day waiting for more solid developments to come about, but we've decided to go ahead and post up what we do know about this situation. As a previous update from Brian Ward stated via his Twitter account, he was hard at work on a Beast Wars DVD release. After that initial post, he started up with some interesting hints about another project he was working on:

"Big news re: BEAST WARS yesterday. But that's just one of MANY titles I'm excited to be working on. Anyone speak Japanese? #NotReallyAsking"

"Looking for bonus feature material re: TRANSFORMERS TAKARA COLLECTION. Commercials, etc. Got anything? #DoesntMeanImWorkingOnIt #YesItDoes"

And finally, the last bit of information which has many people believing this is all but confirmed:

"Working hard on the upcoming BEAST WARS and TAKARA COLLECTION sets. But can this really be considered work?"

Some of you may remember when we had the original Transformers animated movie re-released a few years back, it included Scramble City, but with all the audio removed and featured audio commentary instead. The reason the audio was removed was because of copyright issues and royalty issues with using the original Japanese audio. That same logic was behind the idea that we would NEVER see a release of the Takara shows here in the United States.

Are we indeed getting some Takara Transformers on DVD here in the United States? And if so, are we getting original Japanese audio? Subtitles? Surely this revelation brings up more questions than even Brian Ward can possibly answer right now, but stay tuned!

Special thanks to TVShowsonDVD.com for the information compiling.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley And Tyrese Gibson Talk DOTM, Optimus Receives A Parking Ticket

By NIBMRatchet from TFW2005:
Both Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Tyrese Gibson spoke about the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon on separate interviews.

Although not much was revealed, Rosie’s interview had an interesting tidbit.

"We were told it was for a 'nemesis' role and I left thinking I was awful. The next day I was offered the lead!"

Tyrese talked about the process went into the creation of the third movie.

“It's in 3-D, and this is the first time we're doing [a 'Transformers' movie] in 3-D," he said. "In the first two, we were messing around and playing around, trying to figure out the niche and the energy and the synergy. Michael Bay has gone on the record, as has Shia, the star of the movie, and they've said, 'Listen: we've really figured it out this time. This is the biggest and best 'Transformers' movie of all of them.”

You can read the interviews at MTV and TotalFilm.

Remember Optimus Prime parked near New York Toy Fair 2011? Movieweb is announcing that he has received a $115 Parking Ticket. Optimus, you can't getaway just by saying "My Bad!" this time.
