Botcon 2010 Iacon Non-Attending Sets Now Arriving

Here's some news for those of you who sadly could not make it to Botcon this year (too bad, you missed a great show!). If you ordered an Iacon or non-attendee package, you might want to keep an eye open for the mailman - according to 2005 Boards member Primeconvoy1, they are now arriving! This year's set contains loving homages to the late European Generation 1 releases and Generation 2 toys, plus a couple of surprises. The set of five is made up of Autobot Spark, Clench, Generation 2 Breakdown, Streetstar and Sky Byte.

Treat this as a rumor for now, but several internet movie blogs including blastr.com are reporting on what the potential Transformers 3 opening scene is. If you do not want to be spoiled, STOP READING NOW!

Robotic activity is detected on Earth's moon. The news makes its way to the Oval Office of the White House, and when the president turns to face the audience, it is none other than John F. Kennedy. The year is 1961. This contact spurred the space race and JFK's insistence that the US be the first to get to the moon.

More Images from the Tokyo Toy Show 2010

The Tokyo Toy Show 2010 is now on, and Takara-Tomy have their Transformers display in full force with lots of new products! Highlights include:

- Wing Blade Optimus Prime - armor will have a metallic finish, while the Voyager Optimus Prime toy appears to be a crystal version.
- The next Transformers Animated Lucky Draw will be a gold chrome version of Cybertron Mode Megatron.
- Rodimus - will be more of a maroon, closer to the Generation 1 Animated Movie Rodimus colors. Looks very sharp.

Dengeki Online has posted an image from Tokyo Toy Show 2010 showing the new Movie Masterpiece MP-M01 Starscream on display, with a look at the box! Note that the box has similar graphics to the 2007 movie line. For those of you who prefer the F-22 Raptor alt mode sans tatoos, the look from the 2007 Transformers Movie, are willing to pay more, and like to keep the boxes for your Transformers, this release by TakaraTomy is right up your alley! TFcon 2010 Live Script Reading Prelude Comic Online

The TFcon 2010 Live Script Reading Prelude Comic is now online, you can view it here. This year's live script reading is with Canadian voice actor David Kaye, the voice of Beast Wars Megatron and Animated Optimus Prime among others. You can audition for roles in the Live Script Reading then could perform live in front of everyone in attendance with David Kaye himself.

Today's Featured Ebay Auction is for a Transformers G1 1984 Decpto Pack Costume Kit. It comes from seller markb3011. The Decpto Pack was a back pack that could be disassembled into "Transformers Battle Armor". It included a mask, chest plate, shield and gun.

2005 Boards member Gaokaiser has shared scans of a catalog soliciting Takara-Tomy's October and November 2010 releases. The bulk of the releases once again come from Transformers Animated, with some more Movie series "Autobot Alliance" releases also coming along. Alternity Thundercracker and Masterpiece Movie Starscream are also listed.

New Transformers 2010 Reissue Predaking Incoming?

Recently posted to the Twitter account of @snakas is a new image of a reissue Predaking. This image shows Predaking standing next to a Transformers 2010 placecard, with more promotional art behind it.

This Predaking appears to have gold paint apps in place of the yellow parts from the original release. The place card states that it is 15,750 yen, which is roughly $179 US. No more is known about this piece at this time, or when we may be able to get our hands on it.

It falls to us today to report the sad news of the passing of Ronald Gans, the voice actor who played Generation 1's Drag Strip. He passed away aged 79 on June 29 due to complications of pneumonia. In addition to voicing Drag Strip, Mr Gans will be remembered for Kanga and Roo on "Pooh Corner" and Sebastian the alley cat in the Disney Channel's "Dumbo's Circus", in addition to countless trailers, TV promos and other roles in a career that has spanned 50 years.

Tokyo Toy Show Exclusives Revealed: Elite Guard Prowl and Dreadwind/Smokescreen

TakaraTomy has posted up images of two upcoming items exclusive to the Tokyo Toy Show this year. First up is a repaint of Transformers Animated Prowl as Elite Guard member. Second is a repaint of both Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Mindwipe and Skystalker as Dreadwind and Smokescreen respectively.

It is being said in our discussion thread that these will be available at the Tokyo Toy Show in limited numbers, and that any left over will most likely be sold through e-hobby as a web exclusive.

Transformers RPMs Combat Series 2 Released at US Retail

The Transformers RPMs Combat Series 2 assortment has finally been sighted at US retail! These four die cast cars - consisting of Autobot Skids, Mudflap, Rollbar and Starscream - are all single pack releases of their previous two-pack editions. They were initially shown on Hasbro's website way, way back in October 2009, but then were never seen at retail - until now. They were spotted at a Toys R Us store in San Jose, CA by 2005 Photo Staff member Panzerjedi.

Regulon Four has posted a five page preview of IDW Publishing's Transformers #9! It's part one of "International Incident", a story where the Combaticons take center stage and rock the world to its foundations. Left behind when the rest of the Decepticons left Earth, they now find themselves serving an international despot. Art is provided by the extremely talented Guido Guidi.

Don't forget that in addition to the two regular covers and a retailer incentive cover, there is a special Auto Assembly 2010 cover by Nick Roche, which will only be available at Auto Assembly in the UK over the weekend of August 13 to August 15.

Thanks to TFW2005 Board Member juise, we have with us some exclusive photos from the Transformers 3 filming at Milwaukee.

Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Michael Bay and Patrick Dempsy are all there but the eyes of the Transformers Fans were fixed upon a new “person” on the set. No, it’s not an actor… It’s a car. A 1972 Datsun 510 to be exact. Why is it so special? That’s because the paint scheme of that particular car mimics the paint job of the 1976 Camaro Bumblebee from the first-half of Transformers (2007) movie.

Auto Assembly 2010 Update - Change to Saturday night Program

We have received an update from our friends at Auto Assembly, detailing a few changes to the previously announced Saturday night program. Unfortunately due to landing a CD deal, Next of Kin will now not be performing, and we wish them luck in their endeavour.

In place of their performance comes a packed Saturday night schedule consisting of a live script reading written by Simon Furman and featuring guests of honour Gary Chalk, Scot McNeil, and YOU! Yes, you could perform in the script reading as well, by auditioning over the course of the weekend. The night continues on with an Optimus Primal concert - Gary Chalk will be taking to the stage for some songs in what promises to be a memorable performance. The night is set to be rounded out with a Cosplayer pageant and a Kareoke night.
